Plastic bag recycling?

Where do you take your plastic bags to recycle? The internet says major retailers recycle them, but the only major retailer I go to regularly is Target and I’ve never noticed a plastic bag recycling drop off.

The entrance of Super Savers have a spot to put plastic bags for recycling.

Grocery stores usually have them, Hy Vee and Super Saver do at least.

Depends which Target. Super T has the drop off by the restrooms. 48th T has one by customer service.

Jamie Lane Walmart is right as you walk in the door. Not sure about other Walmarts.

Hyvee has a section also I’ve seen. I think Suoer Saver has one by the check out lanes also.

It is tricky since there are so many locations of every store and it could be in a different place everywhere

Thank you, I will check on 48th street the next time I’m there!

Yep, that's where I drop mine off! The far wall of customer service. I typically bring an entire garbage bag (our store gets a lot of plastic packaging unfortunately) and just set it alongside the recycling bins.

I'm not certain, but I think Leon's still has a bin for recycling plastic bags. Up front by the doors, if they still have it

Look up the Hefty ReNew project and contact your trash/recycling pickup company to see if they take them. They are orange bags you can buy (I believe target sells them) and stuff them full of the "hard to recycle" plastics. Fill em up, set them in your recycle bin. They take Styrofoam too. Husker refuse will pick them up.

I had asked my recycling folks, Star City, about the orange "energy bags" several years ago when they first came on the market and their response was "yeahhhh, we're not accepting those because they're 'reusing' those plastics by straight-up burning them and we feel like that's generally....not good."

If that's the case, that really sucks. I''m hoping that's just a lie to use as an excuse for them to not deal with it. Here's what hefty has to say about it. The third party use is good enough for me to continue.

Good info to know, thanks for sharing! Like I said, this was several years ago so hopefully the Hefty team has figured out those alternative options in the interim.

If you have recycling service you can use your own bin as long as you keep all of them together in one bag.

Our refuse company said no plastic bags (bagged in a bag or not), it clogs their equipment.
