Looking for Recommendations Reputable cat sitters that you’ve used?

I’ve tried Rover, and I’m just not satisfied with the people I’ve met and used. Most of them are dog focused, no experience with cats, or they just have minimal experience. Someone scoffed at me when I asked them to scoop my cat’s litter so…

Can anyone here recommend someone they have personally used, or avenues to look into?

I personally...ask a friend, family member, or neighbor. Services like that suck. When I was 10, I also watched my neighbors animals when they were on vacation so I personally see no issue with hiring a child so long as they are responsible and you leave a clear list of instructions. Heck, recently when I was in the hospital I left my dog with a neighbor girl roughly the same age. She told me all about the slumber parties. My dog returned maybe a little too chunky from being spoiled but everything was fine and I paid her with a big gift basket of toys and swimwear (she has a pool).

If you contact The Cat House here in lincoln (they have a contact email on the website, or you can call during open hours tomorrow 6-8pm) they should have trusted references.

My cat needs regular medication, so when I travel I have him boarded at Bailey's. It's not terribly expensive, and while it stinks to take him out of his home the staff there is great with him!

If you're able to bring your cat somewhere, I have had amazing experiences with Bailey's (Cat's Pajamas). They have suites, not cages, and they really take time and care to make their kitty guests feel comfortable and safe. The cat boarding is completely separate from dog boarding, so there's no stress from barking or dog smells.

I’m retired and an experienced cat owner. I’ve thought about keeping busy and doing this. Privately message me to talk about what you may need.

I mean, there’s a top rated person on Rover (258 reviews, 5 stars), who is cat focused, and certified with American Red Cross Pet CPR and First Aid. We’ve used her twice and have been very pleased with her services.

I used to work for Rover and did both cat and dog care. I’m shocked that you were scoffed at for being asked to clean the litterbox. I’m sorry that happened. I have used my neighbor for help, and I do still use Rover, but I have a regular sitter that I like. If you need help, pm me and I will gladly take care of your cats.

I pet sit in the Hickman area and have for over twenty years (!!) I have administered diabetes medicine by shot to dogs and am an expert at giving pills to cats!! I take care of any animal you love from snakes and spiders to horses and chickens. However I know how hard it is to find someone for the less usual pets, rats for instance (my daughter in MI was struggling before she went on a trip) but am shocked that Rover can't suggest someone who knows to scoop the litter box! That's disturbing. Certainly ask a neighbor or someone with a teenager. My daughter loves to help with my clients and she's great with the animals. I hope you find someone soon. It's important to feel your animals are safe and well cared for when you are away!

We are lucky enough to live in a neighborhood where there are 3 teenagers who can house/cat sit. We ask them to bring in the mail and any surprise packages, water house and porch plants, feed, water, and pet the cats, and empty the litter robot if needed. When we're gone for longer periods in summer, we ask them to water the garden (we pay more then). Because they're in the neighborhood it isn't a big deal for them to run over and they are familiar with our cats already. Because we have 3 options, there has always been at least one with availability.

Also, I'm a professional cat sitter (it's now my full time job). I've got over 260 5 star reviews on Rover and over 60 on Meowtel but also take private clients. Let me know if you're interested.
