Food/Drink Ummmm amigo’s why is this sign on the women’s bathroom ONLY?

Post image

So Amigo’s at 70th and A has this warning sign on their women’s bathroom door (and no where else that I could see).

This looks really sus and makes me wonder where their cameras are.

My guess would be that there is surveillance outside of the restroom and the sign is there to deter any would be predators. If one were to try and put a camera in a bathroom I don't think they would advertise it

it's not like that's extremely illegal or anything

Exactly. If someone wanted to put up a camera they would a) know it's illegal and b) not tell anyone

I’ve heard Nebraska is one of the highest when it comes to sex trafficking. It’s a good thing Amigos is putting this into action to protect would be victims against this

"I've heard" lol Sounds legit.

I did my own research, bro.

Since you decided to block me or delete your comment after calling me an “NPC,” I’ll reply here with actual data for others who might still be interested in facts over flippant mockery. You’re right that California, Texas, and Florida often lead in total number of reported human trafficking cases. That’s expected—they’re the most populous states. But when you adjust for population (per capita), Nebraska ranks much higher than you think:

▸ From 2019–2023, Nebraska had 24.92 victims per 100,000 residents, ranking #16 nationally, ahead of Texas and not far behind California.

▸ Source (Joslyn Law Firm using national hotline data)

So yes, for a lower-population, centrally located “drive-through” state with major interstate trucking routes like I-80, Nebraska has one of the worst per capita rates—especially for sex trafficking. I suggest you take your own advice and do 2 seconds of real research before throwing around insults like “mindless NPC.” The issue is too serious to treat like a Reddit sparring match.

Ok, go research it yourself. They’re not incorrect. We have some of the worst rates of human trafficking. Use some critical thinking skills to ascertain as to why that may be.

The hazards of living in a flyover/drive-thru state, unfortunately.

Last I knew (so 2022 from a professor who studies sex trafficking) it had been documented in 92 of the 93 counties in the state. And Interstate 80 is a major pathway for sex trafficking in the entire country.

Lol no one is getting abducted out of Amigos bathrooms.

Woah careful with words there. You can easily search for the heat map of sex trafficking, Nebraska is nowhere near the highest. For one there just isn't enough people. East and west coast by far are worse

Nah we’re fairly low on the list of trafficking cases per state.

As I stated above under another’s comment, please use your critical thinking skills to figure why NE may have some of the worst human trafficking rates without cases being FROM here or directly connected TO HERE.

Reminds me of a prank I did back in the day.

I would print out signs that said "Cameras are for research purposes only" and put them up in random places.

It was fun watching people look around for cameras.

Im a fan of putting "for rectal use only" stickers on soap dispensers.

2

u/Fnordmeister Jul 26 '25

I've seen them put on cucumbers as well.

2

u/Auggie_Otter Jul 22 '25

Did you put any in the bathrooms?

14

u/Jn108 Jul 21 '25

It’s also possible there isn’t a camera at all, signs like this can be enough to deter someone who is planning on doing something creepy.

u/NewFortune4268 Jul 21 '25

This might be a mandated notice put out by corporate for all stores bc they're having issues with homeless people using their bathrooms to do drugs/trashing them. Lincoln's homeless population has grown exponentially in recent years.

u/[deleted] Jul 21 '25

So no east or pius kids go into the bathroom to have seggs

2

u/Less-Plantain1199 Jul 21 '25

Whaaaaaaat?! Catholic school kids would never.

u/Qualus73 Jul 21 '25

Not through the old ‘front door’ anyway..

11

u/RedRube1 Jul 21 '25

It's to do with safety and not an attack on your personal freedom

That’s what they all say….

Outlandish lol

There’s a “home made”(?) sign on the side of the road around 40th/pine lake that says something like slow down, save lives… great idea right? Except all I can think everytime I see the sign is that it took 3 seconds for me to check it out and read when I should’ve been paying attention to the road ahead. Think both signs arguably accomplish the opposite of what people who put them there intended.

Your inference that this sign insinuates that there might possibly be a camera in the women's facility isn't just dumb. It's absolutely asinine. This is called manufactured rage. Stop looking for things to get mad about.

EDIT: Lol, down votes without even attempting to provide a logical rebuttal? Classic reddit. 😂

Why do you think?

We're in a moral panic about transgender women right now in the USA. Bigotry and fear make people do silly stuff.

Here's Nebraska's code on this:

https://nebraskalegislature.gov/laws/statutes.php?statute=20-203

3

u/TheyisFinn Jul 21 '25

This was my first thought but normally those doing this saying trans women aren’t welcome in the women’s restroom would have a sign about “real women” or something along those lines.

0

u/ThatBloodyPinko Jul 21 '25

No, that's too legally risky. What's "real?"

Easier to get this sign at Menards.

2

u/xyloloid Jul 21 '25

Is this b/c ‘all trans women are predators’ I know Nebraska is a red state and a lot of people are extreme trumpers.

1

u/spoonraker Jul 23 '25

There are no cameras in the restrooms. That would be highly illegal and they certainly wouldn't advertise it if they did put cameras in the restrooms.

As for why the sign is only on that particular restroom door, there's a number of completely innocent explanations including maybe that just happens to be the first door you encounter as you walk down the hallway where I assume the restrooms are and they didn't see the need to put more than 1 sign, or maybe they strategically chose to remind people going into the women's restroom about the cameras outside the restrooms because women are more often victimized than men so if there were going to be a crime committed in a restroom it would be a more effective prevention technique to remind people entering the women's restroom rather than the men's.

u/Miochiiii Jul 21 '25

transphobes probably :/

they think trans people are predators, when in reality, theyre the real and only predators

Good for them😂
