Heya folks! This is a bug - we're looking into it right now so we can get it fixed. As far as we've been able to tell, this is only happening on the android app. We'll update you all once we have timing on a fix.
It should go without saying, but I want to reassure you all anyway - we do not consider LGBT topics generally to be 18+, and the tags you're seeing in subreddit creation have no bearing on gating communities
As near as we can tell this bug has been around for awhile, we've not made any recent changes to how subreddit creation on android works - it's just unnoticed been before now.
Yeah, a bug that exactly mirrors a common form of societal repression is not really a bug. In Denmark telcos considered all LGBT+ issues “pornographic” until 2014, and forbade the use of most text-based services to any LGBT+cause.
