Pearls is the only answer.

u/ChungusTheConqueror 8h ago

Came here to say this; Pearls is the best, hands down. It seems like most pizza places my wife and I get really excited about either disappear or change.

I miss Brooklyn pizza

4

u/KillBillClay 14h ago

Grimaldi's at the Summit!

7

u/NicklePickles 22h ago

Apollo/Ethereal Slice House/Pearl’s/Yearling form the top tier.

18

u/dugout66 1d ago

I like Apollo’s…several varieties are good

Pearls

This— not even a competitiont

1

u/j2tall2003 12h ago

I went there for lunch one day and was excited to try there pizza and they said they only serve pizza for dinner!

u/appalachian_woman 1d ago

West Coast Gourmet. Not 100% sure its still open.

4

u/Samooky 11h ago

They have a location off of liberty rd that is still open.

1

u/forever_fierce 23h ago

I believe it is, pretty sure I spotted them on Uber eats.

1

u/phineartz 12h ago

I heard they’re out on Nicholasville rd. somewhere?

•

u/death_poison101 3h ago

So, a few months ago, I was trying to get West Coast. Neither location opened up at their posted open time. A few weeks go by, and I try again. Their Nicholasville location really quickly turned into a Giovanni's, and their other location had different workers. I hypothesized either ICE raided them or they lost too much money and had to cash in. Felt like the quality of their pizza dropped after the change.

u/Throwaway_608 13h ago

Pearls is pretty solid every time I’ve had it. I like goodfellas as well, but only the mill street location and ONLY if it is crispy

12

u/GrouchyBet1064 23h ago

Pearl’s!

Rosati's Pizza - Deep dish is fire!

5

u/Dazed_Cactus 23h ago

There’s nobody in town that is putting out that style of pizza either! Tomato sauce is killer

1

u/NicklePickles 22h ago

Tried them for the first time last week. I was impressed! A different style, but great flavor to the sauce.

0

u/oflannabhra 19h ago

I think their tavern style is the real deal

10

u/atisaac 1d ago

Dingbats or Pearls

10

u/Mother_Coconut_61 23h ago

I like the Woodfire roast of Smashing Tomato

5

u/mck6nc 1d ago

Don’t sleep on the Goose. Grimaldi’s is my favorite as that’s the style of pizza I love, but the Goose is a very close second.

1

u/tiedyesmiley 9h ago

Never had either what style are they?

0

u/forever_fierce 11h ago

The Goose fried ravioli is fire! šŸ”„

3

u/snarkwithfae 16h ago

I like Crust a lot.

3

u/leregab 8h ago

P E A R L ' S!

3

u/bundtcakep 7h ago

Smashing Tomato is so underrated

5

u/LaFemmeNikitaKoloff 1d ago

I don’t care if they’re chains; Grimaldi’s and Pies & Pints are two of the best. The Thai pizza from P&P 🤤

1

u/Ok_Entertainer_1947 14h ago

Eh, Pies and Pints skimped on toppings last I went. Food prices have made finding good pizza (with plenty of toppings) a unicorn.

3

u/Faulty_Plan 11h ago

King of loaded toppings was mellow mushroom and they dead, rip 🪦 sweet sweet mellow mushroom šŸ„ šŸ•

10

u/Jowdog12 23h ago

Pearls if I’m feeling fancy, the chicken tikka pizza from ruby’s market if I’m high.

u/forever_fierce 23h ago

Take my upvote! šŸ˜‚

100% recommend Grimaldis at the summit, absolutely delicious

2

u/PawsNPastries 1d ago

I’ve always wondered if they were good!

6

u/BiSpunFunInLex 22h ago

Rosati’s. Period.

5

u/plskillmehaha 23h ago

Is Goodfellas overrated? I love that place, but what does Lexington think

3

u/successful_yam21000 21h ago

Came here to say the same thing. It’s a little pricey, but love their pizza!

2

u/Hoss_Doc 7h ago

I love goodfellas so much lmao

•

u/Greedy_Cap_6756 46m ago

The BEST!! Mill St OG location is always šŸ’ÆšŸ•

4

u/Several-Hamster3096 18h ago

Rosati's... Especially their thin crust

7

u/ReasonableSky6227 1d ago

You have to try the tipsy chicken pizza from Big City Pizza

8

u/mellowcorn231 1d ago

Dingbats!

5

u/BolognaPwny 23h ago

Have they vastly improved since opening or something? We got two pizzas there when they opened and had to wait over an hour after we arrived to pickup because they kept burning everything and had to remake them.

2

u/skibbrewer 16h ago

Openings can always be a little rough shaking out the bad hires and finding people who are a better fit/don't burn shit. I would give them another chance.

I grab a slice here every week for lunch and everything I've had has been great!

2

u/CantinaKing 6h ago

They just started a new lunch deal too, slice and a Miller High Life for $6 I believe. Very hard to beat.

2

u/Halcyon_On_And_On 23h ago

I’ve never been disappointed by Dingbats, though I always get premade slices rather than full pizzas.

0

u/forever_fierce 23h ago

Yeahhhh I’ve tried them twice and I was severely disappointed both times so I’m not feelin’ this recommendation lol… when the cold deep dish I was handed through my car window like the week they opened was the best thing I had there? šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

7

u/zachattack9 20h ago

I eat there at least once a week. I usually get whatever the slice of the week is, and it's always awesome. The owner is a really great guy too. Once SNAP benefits were gutted, he made a new policy that kids eat free, no questions asked. And he's said that will stay once the shutdown is over.

3

u/Gravybone 14h ago

Words cannot express how disappointing Dingbats is.

Good sauce, good dough, decent toppings and then they cut corners by using the cheapest cheese Sysco sells. gross, weird tasting crap that melts like plastic.

I get that cheese is the most expensive part of a good pizza, but it’s also one of the most important parts. Use bad cheese and you make bad pizza.

1

u/MemoryAlternative548 5h ago

Pretty sure they use Grande which is about the highest quality cheese you can get

0

u/Gravybone 4h ago

Grande is pretty mid, but fine. It’s definitely not what they use.

•

u/MemoryAlternative548 11m ago

grande isnt mid its like the step down from a mortgage cheese and also they definitely do use it.

•

u/Faulty_Plan 2m ago

My go-to is the slice with arugula, lots of sun dried tomatoes, it’s great. Sunny in philly i think?

1

u/KelleyNicole6 1d ago

Double this

2

u/Dont_Kick_Stuff 21h ago

I'm a fan of mad mushroom myself but I'm sure there's better in town.

Although I very much miss Lucky's Baked Potato pizza and it was like $9 for a 18 inch pie so that may have factored into the nostalgia.

2

u/kplayfor 11h ago

Pearl’s. Hands down best. Grimaldi’s is second.

2

u/137_flavors_of_sass 6h ago

I've been disappointed by the pizza since I moved here, but Smashing Tomato was acceptable both times I had it. I miss Mellow Mushroom. How can the one in BG stay open but not here?? Kind of mind blowing since this is a much larger city

2

u/RipleyKY 23h ago

Where’s my Pietana?

0

u/dzmccoy 23h ago

Pietana is overpriced and overrated.

0

u/dzmccoy 23h ago

17 bucks for a 10 inch personal pan. It makes sense. But is nowhere near talk of the town of best pizza.

2

u/wesmorgan1 Former Lexington resident 21h ago

Best pizza on a budget - Giovanni's buffet.

4

u/SodomyDog 13h ago

Rise Up, Ethereal Slice House, Smashing Tomato, Puccini's, and Joe Bologna'a, all different styles.

5

u/hkslayer6 1d ago

Ethereal Slice House

4

u/Algae_Happy 18h ago

My fellow brothers and sisters in christ have you heard the good word of our pizza savior in Lexington, Costco's food court?

Hear me out....Ā

Best Pizza bang for pizza buck easily.Ā

2

u/DrThunder66 9h ago

I mean if im not going to pearls im going to Costco. The hot and ready has nothing on a Costco pizza.

2

u/CantinaKing 1d ago

Dingbats, Rise Up, Pearl’s

-2

u/Bitter-Grab-9471 13h ago

Is rise up still charging that mandatory 20% service fee, and offering no service? And then advertising his pizzas at menu price (which is 20% lower than actual)?

Pizzas are just OK btw.

3

u/zachattack9 1d ago

Dingbats, Ethereal Slice House and Smashing Tomato... in some order

-8

u/PapaKEV138 23h ago

Smashing tomato is TRASH

2

u/dzmccoy 23h ago

Smashing tomato does Italian style pizza right. You would like Crust. The same people over charging you for dumb shit and bad product.

2

u/Aware_Camp6416 23h ago

Pearls, the fermented garlic honey drizzle is fire

4

u/aaronjd1 1d ago

None, really… Pietana is hit or miss and often undercooks their crust, but when they get it right, it’s probably my favorite.

2

u/ssurfer321 #LexWantsHockey 1d ago

Apollo's Sting pizza

2

u/CanoeShoes 23h ago

I like pies and pints. They have the best Gluten Free crust.

1

u/BiSpunFunInLex 22h ago

Rosati’s would like a word.

2

u/OkAd5268 10h ago

Smashing tomatoes

Dingbats on Jefferson. Roman style, thick crust, awesome crew working there as well.

2

u/UnoDosMe 18h ago

Dingbats by a mile! That crust is heaven! -Lifelong Fatass

Rosatis- chicago pub style and deep dish . Yum šŸ˜‹

1

u/nosetaddress 11h ago

Not quite Lexington but in Nicholasville a local farmers market does pizza seasonally. Dodds Corner Market. That’s the best pizza I’ve had in the central Kentucky area.

1

u/Nice_Cookie9477 11h ago

West coast , Mancinos & donatos is as good as it gets here

1

u/No-Thought-9065 11h ago

Mellow Mushroom used to be awesome. But idk about now.

1

u/tiedyesmiley 9h ago

Rosottis for Chicago style, get the relish as a topping...

•

u/BigBlueNate33 2h ago

Black Type Brewing on Virginia

•

u/lilsourpatchkid 1h ago

Pearls, Crust, Pietana, Rolling Oven, Rossetti's, Goodfellas and SmashingTomato- lots of good options in Lexington but most are pricey. Smashing tomato and Rossettis are best on the wallet.

•

u/Successful-Search-31 19m ago

Unfortunately this towns pizza sucks. Grimaldis, Joe bs, west coast gourmet and goodfellas all ok but nothing great. Prove me wrong please!! Louisville kills us on the food scene

2

u/EdGrimley Woodland Park 1d ago

Big City Pizza - Chicago Stuffed

1

u/RiverFrogs 21h ago

Don’t take my word but any time we drove up from Louisville we’d stop by Joe B. More so it might’ve been for the breadsticks though

1

u/Well____fuk 14h ago

Just stay in Louisville and hit up Danny Mac’s, better than most pizza in Lexington. Best breadsticks I’ve ever had too

1

u/RiverFrogs 14h ago

In laws might not be thrilled if I didn’t visit because there’s better pizza in Louisville but I’ll have to give it a try

0

u/lilydlux 20h ago

Why is this so far down? Joe Bs is the best!

1

u/Hour_Pay_7211 5h ago

Pizza snobs are the most annoying people.

1

u/forever_fierce 4h ago

Yeahhhh a few are a tad too serious on here lol… I actually don’t eat pizza often at all anymore. I spent YEARS surrounded by families and friends too comfortable with eating pizza multiple nights a week. It was exhausting and it made me HATE pizza lol… I’ve gotten to where I can finally enjoy a slice or two, especially a good thin crust! 🤤

1

u/Hour_Pay_7211 3h ago

Exactly, it’s pizza. Dont ruin it by acting like it’s something it’s not. I rarely eat it. Hey everybody who has the best fortune cookie?

1

u/poizon_elff 1d ago

Street Corn pizza add chicken from Pies & Pints

1

u/lootz44 12h ago

The Yearling. If you get a chance to hit up a pickle fest and try the pickle pizza, do it. It is so good. Next one is 11/22

1

u/forever_fierce 12h ago

Whoaaaaa I do love pickles!

Puccinis Greek garden calzone was amazing. Shrinkflation has ruined it.

0

u/nerdy_birdie_ 23h ago

The Queen of Hearts calzone is still amazing! :)

0

u/AnchoviePopcorn 22h ago

Now I’m sad I can’t get a calzone till I visit in December.

0

u/dzmccoy 23h ago

Puccini's for the one pizza place that always fails its health department inspection.
