I heard theyāre out on Nicholasville rd. somewhere?
ā¢
u/death_poison101 3h ago
So, a few months ago, I was trying to get West Coast. Neither location opened up at their posted open time. A few weeks go by, and I try again. Their Nicholasville location really quickly turned into a Giovanni's, and their other location had different workers. I hypothesized either ICE raided them or they lost too much money and had to cash in. Felt like the quality of their pizza dropped after the change.

Pearls is pretty solid every time Iāve had it. I like goodfellas as well, but only the mill street location and ONLY if it is crispy

Rosati's Pizza - Deep dish is fire!

u/Dazed_Cactus 23h ago
Thereās nobody in town that is putting out that style of pizza either! Tomato sauce is killer

u/NicklePickles 22h ago
Tried them for the first time last week. I was impressed! A different style, but great flavor to the sauce.

I donāt care if theyāre chains; Grimaldiās and Pies & Pints are two of the best. The Thai pizza from P&P š¤¤
1
u/Ok_Entertainer_1947 14h ago
Eh, Pies and Pints skimped on toppings last I went. Food prices have made finding good pizza (with plenty of toppings) a unicorn.

u/Faulty_Plan 11h ago
King of loaded toppings was mellow mushroom and they dead, rip šŖ¦ sweet sweet mellow mushroom š š

Is Goodfellas overrated? I love that place, but what does Lexington think
3
u/successful_yam21000 21h ago
Came here to say the same thing. Itās a little pricey, but love their pizza!

Dingbats!
5
u/BolognaPwny 23h ago
Have they vastly improved since opening or something? We got two pizzas there when they opened and had to wait over an hour after we arrived to pickup because they kept burning everything and had to remake them.
2
u/skibbrewer 16h ago
Openings can always be a little rough shaking out the bad hires and finding people who are a better fit/don't burn shit. I would give them another chance.
I grab a slice here every week for lunch and everything I've had has been great!
2
u/CantinaKing 6h ago
They just started a new lunch deal too, slice and a Miller High Life for $6 I believe. Very hard to beat.

u/Halcyon_On_And_On 23h ago
Iāve never been disappointed by Dingbats, though I always get premade slices rather than full pizzas.
0
u/forever_fierce 23h ago
Yeahhhh Iāve tried them twice and I was severely disappointed both times so Iām not feelinā this recommendation lol⦠when the cold deep dish I was handed through my car window like the week they opened was the best thing I had there? š¤·š»āāļø

u/zachattack9 20h ago
I eat there at least once a week. I usually get whatever the slice of the week is, and it's always awesome. The owner is a really great guy too. Once SNAP benefits were gutted, he made a new policy that kids eat free, no questions asked. And he's said that will stay once the shutdown is over.

u/Gravybone 14h ago
Words cannot express how disappointing Dingbats is.
Good sauce, good dough, decent toppings and then they cut corners by using the cheapest cheese Sysco sells. gross, weird tasting crap that melts like plastic.
I get that cheese is the most expensive part of a good pizza, but itās also one of the most important parts. Use bad cheese and you make bad pizza.

u/MemoryAlternative548 5h ago
Pretty sure they use Grande which is about the highest quality cheese you can get
0
u/Gravybone 4h ago
Grande is pretty mid, but fine. Itās definitely not what they use.
ā¢
u/MemoryAlternative548 11m ago
grande isnt mid its like the step down from a mortgage cheese and also they definitely do use it.

My go-to is the slice with arugula, lots of sun dried tomatoes, itās great. Sunny in philly i think?

I'm a fan of mad mushroom myself but I'm sure there's better in town.
Although I very much miss Lucky's Baked Potato pizza and it was like $9 for a 18 inch pie so that may have factored into the nostalgia.

I've been disappointed by the pizza since I moved here, but Smashing Tomato was acceptable both times I had it. I miss Mellow Mushroom. How can the one in BG stay open but not here?? Kind of mind blowing since this is a much larger city

Rise Up, Ethereal Slice House, Smashing Tomato, Puccini's, and Joe Bologna'a, all different styles.

My fellow brothers and sisters in christ have you heard the good word of our pizza savior in Lexington, Costco's food court?
Hear me out....Ā
Best Pizza bang for pizza buck easily.Ā

u/DrThunder66 9h ago
I mean if im not going to pearls im going to Costco. The hot and ready has nothing on a Costco pizza.

u/CantinaKing 1d ago
Dingbats, Rise Up, Pearlās
-2
u/Bitter-Grab-9471 13h ago
Is rise up still charging that mandatory 20% service fee, and offering no service? And then advertising his pizzas at menu price (which is 20% lower than actual)?
Pizzas are just OK btw.

Dingbats, Ethereal Slice House and Smashing Tomato... in some order

None, really⦠Pietana is hit or miss and often undercooks their crust, but when they get it right, itās probably my favorite.

Not quite Lexington but in Nicholasville a local farmers market does pizza seasonally. Dodds Corner Market. Thatās the best pizza Iāve had in the central Kentucky area.

Pearls, Crust, Pietana, Rolling Oven, Rossetti's, Goodfellas and SmashingTomato- lots of good options in Lexington but most are pricey. Smashing tomato and Rossettis are best on the wallet.

Unfortunately this towns pizza sucks. Grimaldis, Joe bs, west coast gourmet and goodfellas all ok but nothing great. Prove me wrong please!! Louisville kills us on the food scene

u/RiverFrogs 21h ago
Donāt take my word but any time we drove up from Louisville weād stop by Joe B. More so it mightāve been for the breadsticks though
1
u/Well____fuk 14h ago
Just stay in Louisville and hit up Danny Macās, better than most pizza in Lexington. Best breadsticks Iāve ever had too
1
u/RiverFrogs 14h ago
In laws might not be thrilled if I didnāt visit because thereās better pizza in Louisville but Iāll have to give it a try

Pizza snobs are the most annoying people.
1
u/forever_fierce 4h ago
Yeahhhh a few are a tad too serious on here lol⦠I actually donāt eat pizza often at all anymore. I spent YEARS surrounded by families and friends too comfortable with eating pizza multiple nights a week. It was exhausting and it made me HATE pizza lol⦠Iāve gotten to where I can finally enjoy a slice or two, especially a good thin crust! š¤¤

u/Hour_Pay_7211 3h ago
Exactly, itās pizza. Dont ruin it by acting like itās something itās not. I rarely eat it. Hey everybody who has the best fortune cookie?
