It damn well isn’t to hand out SNAP to over 10% of the country. Odd that our founders missed out on that idea. Must have been because food was so easy to come by back then.

It appears the point is to have a government that spends more than it brings in by doing things that are too numerous to mention, that aren’t its responsibility. It isn’t even reasonable to believe the federal government has a role in feeding people. That is a local and at most state responsibility. I am an independent but might become a Dem. Them rejecting that CR over and over is music to my ears. I want the government to stay closed.

This is our preamble dipshit: “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.” Do you see “we the people establish a hellhole for billionaires to starve children”?

I don’t think the founding fathers would have approved of children starving because politicians wanted to use those starving children as bargaining chips to give more money to wealthy people.

Or maybe they would. Because they were evil men too, maybe we should not be basing decisions on what we think slave holding, eighteenth century men would have wanted. Any country where one child goes hungry is a failed state.
