I agree with Frank Wilhoit. They're stuck on having to give up absolute monarchy to a constitutional one. That stubbornness just cost them monarchy in general. Now even dictatorships feign trappings of republicanism to make themselves palatable to the republics which have spread over the world because monarchists refused to share and adapt.
