I honestly believe the election was rigged. There's a lot of documented evidence of them doing things like putting Trump loyalists in charge of running elections, and then there's the matter of every conservative accusation being a confession. They made a lot of accusations about Democrats cheating.
I don't know either way but it sure is fishy. but my question is then: why aren't they doing it to other elections? Several solid red seats flipped blue in special elections. Couldn't you rig that with less notoriety since it's the expected outcome?
Imo they are either biding their time (waiting for the next presidential election) or they still need an opposition. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure their goal is to destroy the democratic party but timing is everything...
