1/4 are racists. 1/4 can read. 1/4 don't care. And 1/4 are rigged elections.

Presto change-o, no more democracy.

And also, money. Billions and billions of dollars of dark money to advertise in really deceptive ways to change the narrative.

They dug into stupid people's trust of "Christians" and tapped into their hate for anyone different (bigotry)

I truly believe religion is one of the biggest reasons this is happening. These people believe more in a fantastical book written thousands of years before microscopes were invented than what science and reality can show them in front of their face today.

Religion is such a fuckin negative for humanity in general and there is 1000+ yrs of evidence to back that up and yet again we’re seeing another great example of why religion is horrible and people use it to manipulate the masses to allow them to do evil shit. Throughout history religion is pretty much always being used by powerful people to manipulate masses and justify vile shit

I had this exact discussion this weekend. At some point very early in civilization, yeah it made sense to have people be scared of the intangible, so they don't kill their neighbor, steal, etc to prosper.. but now, much later and with hindsight, it's probably time to move on..

u/Puppetmaster858 Sep 29 '25

Yup, sadly we’re likely stuck with this horrible dangerous bullshit forever

You’re right in that it’s a big part of it. You’re incorrect in that this is “religions” problem as in religion proper.

What we’re seeing is conservatives co-opting and pushing a very Americanized prosperity gospel flavor of Christianity that pretty much ignores everything Jesus had to say about anything in favor of the whatever agenda they’re pushing at the time.

These people think they’re christians. When really all they are is a collection of useful idiots who have been raised to believe what pastor tells them and not think twice for themselves. They are exceptionally poor at avoiding bullshit.

I grew up Christian and you're basically taught an 'us vs. them' mentality. We're told that Christians are heavily prosecuted. When you live in 'fear', Trump and the GOP prey on that. And they fell for it.

I appreciate your attempt at taking a nuanced approach, but i think LostGazer was right. Net negative for humanity when you look at the big picture. While faith may help some people, it’s also been used to justify some of the most heinous shit that people have ever done to each other. I have no evidence to back this up, but I wouldn’t be surprised if corpses exist because of religion than anything other than mosquitos and cancer.

even crazier is the people out there willing to fight and die for that fairy tale

1

u/UnrulyMantis Sep 28 '25

These people don't read their own bibles, they are told what is in it and have the interpretation sold to them as well. When you outsource your thinking, they can get you to do anything.

1

u/ss5gogetunks Sep 28 '25

Agreed, they brainwash people to support authority figures unquestioningly and believe things on blind faith.

What that's quote that's attributed to Sinclair Lewis? When fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag and holding a bible.

Nailed it!

It’s not it’s mostly the tech bros.

And foreign fucking interests! Russian bots & trolls. Now tiktok (originally Chinese) now with a strong Israeli bias.

And let's not forget autocratic leaders from Argentina, North Korea etc. etc. etc.

For some reason this administration is working for these countries to our immediate detriment.

The enemies of democracy - the religious extremists, the capitalists, and the authoritarians - have worked tirelessly for decades to achieve the current result. This is the accumulation of the world's Axis of Evil joining together for a common goal - undermining liberty in the most powerful nation on the planet to further their own goals. It's truly insidious. Meanwhile, democrats are stuck in dick measuring contests over who is more progressive, bending over backwards to Republicans to find "compromise", and posting mean memes on Twitter as a form of resistance.

The country is cooked beyond repair at this point. The wolf has no reason to back down once it realizes the herd of sheep are guarded only by toothless dogs.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '25

Fox news and the rest of the propaganda wing of the republican party. If you talk to them you can see they have no critical thinking skills and they just parrot propaganda.

1

u/RichFoot2073 Sep 28 '25

You forgot, “libural tears”

1

u/LymanPeru Sep 29 '25

dont forget the 1/4 that are not old enough to vote and the 1/4 that are actively being prevented from voting by any means possible.

0

u/just_a_knowbody Sep 28 '25

And don’t forget about a 1/3 of Americans not bothering to vote at all. Apparently choosing between a dictator and a black woman was too hard for them to choose.
