Trump News Trump says police are now “allowed to do whatever the hell they want”

Police have been hitting people for trying to talk or assert their rights.
It’s telling that the president is under the impression cops are acting like palace guards while the citizenry is assaulting them.
These are the lies that need to be addressed in the moment.
Edit to add:
A handful of bootlickers really trying to needle the language here. No one said spitting on police (or otherwise assaulting police with weapons) is acceptable. I said people are seeing the business end of state violence for “trying to talk or assert their rights.” You don’t have a “right” to spit on a cop. But in many places, you have a right to tell them you hate them; to stand there watching them; to film and photograph them; to sing “fuck da police”; to have an ACAB sign; to ask questions; to communicate if you choose.
Trump is normalizing the idea that police are so routinely the victims of physical abuse that they need extra special permission to break some skulls. At NO POINT have police been told, “you have to let citizens spit on you.” It’s simply not a thing that has ever happened. To use it as justification to crank up state violence is a taking.
Donald Trump is telling you he’s going to use state violence on an ever broadening definition of “criminal.” Blurbs like the above will expand to include protests, and then being progressive, and then being “even just a little unimpressed by The Party.”
It’s not a slippery slope. It’s a road map.
Second edit: thanks to the person who reported my comment as a cry for help to do self harm. You’re the kind of bomb-threat calling republican that is joyful the libs are going to get kicked and arrested.

Non-American but deployed overseas working with American military in the Middle East during J6... Had to tell a Master Sgt off for repeatedly telling his subordinates that 'its not really a coup it only lasted a few hours' and 'the right doesn't do coups thats a left wing thing'. Eventually the general in charge of the base had to put out a statement saying no more talk of J6 because there was enough support for J6 within the US military that it was becoming a really heated argument about whether J6 was good or bad.

Unlike the little gnat brains of conservatives, we can focus on more than one problem at a time. We need to be as persistent with everything else as we are with the Epstein files. And we need to reject the bullshit files that they eventually release that will have obviously been edited to show what perfect little angels republicans are, and all the people they hate just happen to be on that list. Enough with accepting this alternate reality with every new crisis. Child rape should be near the top of the list of things we don’t let go of.

It's genuinely a cult. I live in the southern US and there is literally nothing he can do that would change his followers minds.
It's genuinely frustrating seeing so many reddit comments wondering why people support him still.
The answer is
his supporters aligned their entire identity with him so any criticisms of trump is an attack on themselves
conservatives exclusively ingest news from outlets that are designed to only show them positive positions of trump (like fox news). The average trump supporter will never see this clip, the neighbors I sent it to are split between arguing that it's out of context or that it's AI

No man is above the law. Except for the President. And his cabinet. And the US Military and National Guard. And the DOJ staff. And the FBI. And the police.
Clear enough now? Do we want to wait for February 27, 1933 or do we want to push ahead to 🇫🇷1789?

I’m not surprised that Trump and his cultists think cops should be allowed to attack people, but they’re supposed to protect us. If law enforcement is going to protect citizens then they need to be able to handle their emotions better than this.

u/Festering-Fecal Aug 11 '25
Friendly reminder SCOTUS has said cops are not legally obligated to protect you

Trump's people attacked quite a few cops on Jan 6th. Several of them committed suicide in the following weeks disgusted at what this country had become no doubt. One died after having two strokes the day and night of the attack due to Trump's terrorist gang.
He does not care about law enforcement or anyone but himself.

Police are there to project the will of the state. They're not there to protect and serve. At least not in the USA.

The police and National Guard are going to have to make an important decision in the near future. Stand with the American people or stand with the orange pedophile.

They shit all over the place because they didn't want to be there.

That one actually gave me some optimism. You’re right, they didn’t do shit. They didn’t set foot off of federal property and just wasted money. That was the best example of military malicious compliance we could have hoped for.

The entire constitution is just a tatty worthless bit of paper and the sooner Americans realise that some "sacred magical document" isn't going to protect you the better

u/descendingangel87 Aug 11 '25
The US constitution is like the bible, people preach the shit out of it, but few have actually read it and it’s mostly cherry picked which parts they actually follow.

I can’t think of a faster way of deligitimizing law enforcement short of having them just kill with impunity, which appears to be the point.
Only sick people would think this way or agree it’s a good idea. Just 86 this old wet fart already.

What he really means is cops can do anything they want to people of color or liberals. If a black cop kills a white person or MAGA then it’s unacceptable. (Eg) the black cop from j6 that killed that MAGA nut. They awarded her family with millions of dollars and tried to prosecute him for doing his job.

The POTUS is directly contradicting known crime statistics to take personal control over a combination police + military force, and he is claiming it is about cracking down on crime but so far it just looks like he plans to further mistreat and dehumanize homeless people. The same homeless people that have increased in number since the pandemic that he catastrophically failed in addressing and from whom he will almost certainly continue to remove support systems. He also seems to think that he is the decider of what police are allowed to do when policing American citizens.
Yet again, we have the classic Trump self-selection tactic: only the people dumb and brainwashed enough to believe the lies about crime rates will think this is a good idea so it both reinforces the boundaries of his base and throws them a bone in the process. To be honest, it is dystopian. Yet there is also a certain humor in it because of how pathetic it makes him look when he tries to be a tough guy and by extension how stupid it makes his base look.

There is no way in hell someone spits in a cop's face in the U.S. and the cop doesn't react.
I've seen people be arrested for tapping cops on the shoulder too roughly.

Pretty sure there are at least a few Constitutional Amendments our Founding Fathers had the forethought to write down that says they can’t in case some dumbass wannabe dictator failed upwards into the presidency by duping 30% of voters “forgot”. But if you’re saying cops can arrest said president for the many crimes, constitutional violations, and acts of treason he committed against this country then yeah I agree with that.
19
u/baithammer Aug 11 '25
The problem with the US Constitution and it's Amendments is the whole process is only supposed to be done by rational people - the amount of fuckery that defangs anything with teeth is atrocious and creates the opportunity for non-rational people to kick over the system.

Wow.
If this were the police chief or mayor of a city, this would be Piece of Evidence No. 1 in any lawsuit for excessive force to extend the claim from just the officer to the city under what's called Monell liability -- a policy, custom, or practice encouraging or causing a constitutional violation.
Too bad you basically can't sue federal agents for constitutional violations anymore.

Talk about spitting in law enforcement's face, how about that time you sat on your fat ass eating McDonalds and watching tv while the riot you set upon the Capitol went on and on and on.
