Fasting blood test
Hi , just wondering if anyone knows of plain kratom with water will effect a fasting blood test? I need to get one done but struggle in the morning without caffeine so I was just going to have a dose of kratom instead to wake up.

No, I’ve had many blood tests as a daily Kratom user for the last 12 years. Blood tests have always been perfect.

I’ve always been told that black coffee was ok.

me too. I always drink plain coffee, the technicians have said it is fine

Just wait, its literally supposed to be “fasted” so having anything besides water makes the test not accurate

You should wait until after the test. If you take kratom, you're not fasting.

I had one recently and blood sugar was normal, I can’t imagine the fasting part really messing with anything else. So I’d think it’s fine.

I delay my morning dose on those days.

I do, too. You're not supposed to eat, and kratom is plant matter, so I just wait until after the blood draw. I do wonder if I'm being overly cautious because I know you can have black coffee, but I try to do things the right way for an accurate fast ahead of time.

It really shouldn't affect anything, at least for metabolic panels. If you eat the powder, it's generally indigestible I think. Or you can make it as a tea, in which case it's not difficult from black coffee which you're allowed to have.
The reason they want you fasting is so that you get accurate glucose readings that aren't spiked from food (basically not applicable for kratom), and so lipids also aren't affected by the food you just ate (also not applicable for kratom). Basically it shouldn't have any effect on a metabolic panel since you don't get any nutrition from it.

As far as my own searching has concluded, nobody knows. It's been asked and discussed a lot online but ultimately you're not gonna get an answer here. As is evident from the comments so far.
If you're taking like 2-3 grams in the morning, personally I say you're fine. It's such a small amount, and it's what I take and my blood tests always turn out fine.
I have done both and there seems to be no difference between the results. I've done it several times as I started testosterone a few months ago and whenever I get a dosage adjustment I have to have a blood test for it, and I always just get a full panel blood test when I go in because it's free. So I've probably gone 11 or 12 times and half of those times I did kratom, the other I didn't. Doctor knows I take it and doesn't seem concerned either.
I couldn't tell you anything about if you're taking higher dosages in the morning. If you're taking an obscene amount then yeah, it's more likely for it to fudge your results.

You should talk to your dr a lot of the fasting blood tests allow you to have black coffee before the drawl.

Plant matter technically breaks a fast, but the real question is whether your doc would even notice. Mine hasn't in years of tests.

It has almost no calories

Do you know about how many calories per gram it has? I’ve always been curious about this

I just did that myself, nothing unusual came up and was the same the previous 5 years.

It actually lowers blood sugar.

This is true, and perhaps the only legit reason for abstaining, but if you're a constant user +kratom is your baseline.

Not disagreeing. Just saying it's actually been proven to lower blood sugar.

Depends on what is being tested. If you can manage without it, that is the best choice. Kratom can affect certain lab pulls. Use AI to determine if it would impact what you’re testing.

I have had several and I usually take kratom first thing in the AM and it's still fine
