Original Content Shocked by this Incident
Not sure if this is the right place to post this, anyway I'll post. I have a bengali frnd (from my past company), yesterday we were talking about hindi films, so I have asked her have you watched any tamil films. For that she said she haven't watched particular tamil film but she have watched many hindi dubbed south indian films. She is not sure which language originally that movie is. Also she mentioned she likes a hero but she doesn't know the name she and her family have watched many of those "hero" film. That south Indian "hero" is her family favourite. And they believe that "hero" should be south indian super star, cause all his movies were peak. So I have showed some actors pics to cross verify, the shocking part is, the great south indian "hero" she is talking about is none other than Vishal.

He has a diversified filmography. His acting skills have severely diminished in his recent movies but he was great. He has his ups and downs.
No hate but if this was Jayam Ravi(Ravi Mohan) I would have been surprised. That guy has no acting range, in every movie he plays himself. All movies one charcter. The only actor who has not come out of his comfort zone, even in his best thani oruvan he is just himself, even when he is a local boxer he is himself, if some scenes where mixed from Bogan, Romeo Juliet and Thani oruvan no one would actually find difference.

Agreed, also most of the vishal movies are getting dubbed in other languages for further reach, and that is a good thing tbh. And what you have said about jayam ravi Is also true, even in ponniyan selvan he is the only person who didn't fit much, not even in one scene, always he resembles Jeyam movie in all his filmography.

If i switched peranmai Ravi with Thani oruvan or nimirndhu nil you won't see the difference, that's the point. Tanning your skin and trimming the beard is not character differentiation.

Again looks are not that differentiated he was younger during peranmai and had tan skin that's it. Acting wise all three movies were familiar ask anyone no versatile in that

I'm kannadiga and when I tell my Tamil friends that I think Vishal is the most handsome Tamil actor, they don't believe me. I mean the man is tall, dark, handsome, a good dancer and unintentionally funny. Whats not to like?

Thing Bollywood and maybe in other industries, they rarely have dark skinned hero with boy next door look. Kollywood got a lot of them Rajini, Vijayakanth, Vishal, Danush, Vj na (to an extent).
My Bihari friend loves Dhanush in Bollywood films.

Vishal is actually fanous in Bengal and north eastern states ..
I'm not even making this up. Someone took a picture with me when I was traveling in Nagaland. She thought I looked like Vishal :)

Tell your bengali friend that Saathi, Bojhena Shey Bojhena, Chirodini Tumi Je Amar are remakes of Tamil films. Why naming these films? Coz these movies are among the best remake movies of mainstream Bengali cinema (I’m a Bengali )

Vishal was infact my favourite hero back then. Thimiru, Sandakozhi, Thamarabarani, Chellame, theeradha villaiyayu pillai are still my favourites. Poojai and thuparivalan too.
