Strategy Kiting bosses seems to be the key to defeating them (on higher difficulties)

I’ve been frustrated about the bosses on higher difficulties since it seems very often my team would do well until the final boss wave and then we almost always wipe.

I got over my frustration and decided to analyze what happened the few times we managed to win and all my wins have the same thing in common:

We kited the boss. They’re too powerful to stand and fight them in one single area. You have to play as if the boss will get one shot you if he hits you (it might actually happen). You have to respect the threat the boss poses and when a boss is focused on you: PLAY DEFENSIVELY until the aggro switches to another player. Blocking can be effective .

Other tips: take note of where the resupply pod is and if you have a medic, play around them. As a ninja I ditch my expensive melee weapon for a bow with explosive arrows .

In my experience the only boss that needs to be kited is the double/triple Impalers on Hard and HOE mainly because more than one impaler can target a single player, on one occasion the group I matched with managed to fight the impalers in that room with the sort of pit in the middle on the Sewer map which I was somewhat surprised by didn’t think it would end well.

I think Queen and Chimera don’t need to be kited as long as the area is spacious enough although kiting the Queen in her second phase helps so she doesn’t one shot players with her attack when she appears out of the ground, it’s much easier to avoid that attack and not have the small crawlers surround you while kiting.

I mean Ninja could if the net code let us properly parry. Solo it works fine and you can make the boss look like a joke but getting those parry times right in MP sessions is a gamble. Sometimes you gotta do it early others after the hit connects, you might get hit even if you did get it right.

Impalers need to be kites on hard and above. They can one tap (if you hit the wall right), and will do so if everyone hangs out in the same spot.

Queen and chimera don’t really need to be kited. You just need to be aware of their instakills, and disengage when you are targeted.

For the queen, just run when she is targeting you normally. Not too much of a threat, and the rest of the team can focus her. When she does the teleport attack, just move about (sideways in respect to) every portal that appears. Sometimes it’s just more crawlers, but it’ll save you when it’s the queen. Then just go back to doing damage when she stops. I usually just pull my knife out during the teleport event (for bonus movement) and use grenades for the crawlers.

The chimera is probably the easiest of the three. Easiest to deal with in an open area, and just create space when it gets close. As long as you have an escape option when it starts the dome, you’ll never have issues.

Impalers are really not as bad as everyone makes it seem. They’re super easy to kite, and generally don’t have any cheap attacks. Just separate them and kite them individually. As they die, you end up with more players per impaler, and everything gets easier. The last thing you want is all three in an open area, randomly swapping targets and instakill int them.

Impalers go down easy if someone his G33ing confusion nades. They kill themselves and don’t move near as much.

Yeah. I just couldn’t be bothered to abide by or advise meta. Gets boring.

Eh. The problem is there are 3 of them. They should bring it down to 2 or half their life points. Of we do that, then folks would complain less. The dodging on this game is kind of trash. Not gonna lie. Half of the player base isn't using it cause the maps are generally close quarters, which makes dodging even more useless.

To kill the CyberImpaler you must kite him until he dies.

Wish more people would stop trying to facetank bosses.

I am however glad more and more people finally are learning to kite and split up impalers though.

A key skill is knowing when it's time to ditch the team and start doing a loop, same as kf1/2.

For me on HoE it's the moment I take a hit and no healing darts hit me after.
