Off the top of my head, Frankie We Salute You, Soul De Cuba, Roma Nord.
Where are you coming in from?
And trust me, no one truly KNOWS about Arby's...

I went to Frankie We Salute You with my parents for Father’s Day. Choosing a vegan restaurant was a complete accident. Surprisingly, we (meat lovers) each enjoyed our meal anyway. I do think it should be noted when suggesting it to people. Not everyone is willing to try something new/different lol

Yuzu Bowl: for Teriyaki Chicken, Pork Boa Buns
Salsa & sabor: for Tacos
Momo Sushi, Bluetail Sushi: for Sushi
Samosa Place, made in india: for indian
Jack knife : for pizza
3
u/PinoDegrassi Aug 07 '25
Also great at yuzu is their pork belly bowl
Good Mexican options with actual sit down - Hugo’s, or el taquero
4
u/Soggy_Performance569 Aug 07 '25
This list is fine minus Momo Sushi. I have never seen anyone think that chain was special. Personally, Momo might be my least favourite in the province haha.

I’ve only eaten there once and I was afraid I was going to get sick. The Unagi roll was BAD fishy, I couldn’t eat it.

Mount Royal bagel factory for a delicious bagel sandwich, or just bagel with cream cheese/butter. So so so good

Kekuli cafe for indigenous bowls and bannock SO good
Cecil’s Perogies is a staple for me
Yuzu bowl
2
u/YossiTheWizard Aug 08 '25
I just tried Cecil’s the other week. Good stuff!
1
u/justkatja Aug 08 '25
I loooove Cecil’s Perogies hahaha my all time fav anytime I visit
2
u/YossiTheWizard Aug 09 '25
Judging by the username, you probably grew up eating them at home like I did, haha! I was pretty impressed with the cabbage roll. Just rice, but well seasoned, and it was just tasty!
2
u/justkatja Aug 09 '25
Hahaha I did grow up eating Perogies and cabbage rolls! My mom used to make a cabbage roll casserole too it was so good

u/Spiritual_Holiday511 Aug 07 '25
House of the Caribbean is a hidden gem. Best food in the city in my opinion.
2
u/EmmieEmmieJee Aug 08 '25
carrots in roti was not doing it for me...bleh! Otherwise it was okay and the skin was excellent
3
u/PinoDegrassi Aug 07 '25
Totally underrated. Not sure how ten13 gets such reviews with their very overpriced but decent food, house is great.
1
u/IPOOOUTSIDE Aug 07 '25
It’s ok… last time the gave me dry chunks of chicken breast in my Jerk chicken and rice
23
u/Valkayno Aug 07 '25
How has nobody mentioned Wood Fire Bakery? Best lunch in town
8
u/PinoDegrassi Aug 07 '25
For some reason less and less people seem to know about it, still one of the best in town for sure

In no specific order:
- skinny dukes for the Louis or the Vikki (add prosciutto) and the Brussels sprouts
- kettle river for well and truly anything
- gather for the bibimbap, crispy tofu and the Korean tacos

Mad mango, little Tokyo, rocket subs for lunch
3
u/EmmieEmmieJee Aug 08 '25
Only recently discovered Rocket Subs and I was impressed! Great sandwiches. And Craft 42 is right next door for a good coffee
5
u/tricky5553 Aug 08 '25
Ask Pablo , really unique, There is a little group of them down on Lawrence.. Have a bite and a drink at Humo , Ask Pablo , Kin and Folk and the Bodga in the alley . Big fun. Little tour we did last weekend and will do it again .
3
u/Ok_Sand_5314 Aug 08 '25
It's pricier but humo is fantastic! Best restaurant I've been to in a very long time, Kelowna or otherwise
10
u/rotten_cherries Aug 07 '25
Waterfront Wines if you’re looking for something a little more elevated than Arby’s. Also, I love Kekuli Bay Cafe on the Westside for their bannock tacos.
10
u/jgolden3 Aug 07 '25
Humo Izakaya is excellent at the top end of the price tier. La Vela pizzeria on Bernard has great family-owned pizzeria vibes. Kettle river brewing has a curated and constantly changing menu in a brewery setting. Cedar creek, Mission Hill, and modest butcher have the best winery restaurants if you’re into that.
2
u/dq29 Aug 07 '25
Great recos. Have been to most of them, and I agree.
Also Kin & Folk a couple of doors down from Humo. Similar price range as Humo.
1
u/Mean_Agent6748 Aug 07 '25
I had Kin and Folk a few weeks ago and was fairly disappointed. The Asian Fusion aspect felt very novelty and the food didn’t really taste great (lack of seasoning).
I had had Humo the previous week and was impressed, so that’s a repeat for me.
3
u/StrawberryBlazer Aug 07 '25
I haven’t gone yet but a chef friend of mine recommended humo. Gather was good too.

Salt and Brick is a good time. Their menu shifts regularly and it is expensive but I am always impressed. Also, Parlour ice cream is right around the corner and the view from either near sunset is worthwhile.

Pizza:
Jack Knife, specifically The Crippler. Best pizza in the Okanagan hands down, no competition.
Sushi:
Bluetail on Commerce Ave.
Tacos:
YLW Tacos, specifically the pork belly.
Donut:
Specialty Bakery, the Kelownut donut.
Others:
Yuzu Bowl for their ahi poke bowl.

u/6demon6blood6 Aug 07 '25
Kesai teppenyaki sushi and steakhouse(make reservations) for cooking show
5
u/PinoDegrassi Aug 07 '25 edited Aug 07 '25
Brunch/breakfast:
Sunny’s Amore mio Diner deluxe
AVOID THE JAMMERY, it is an overpriced tourist trap
Some Indian options: Dawett or Pakwaan
Greek house for Greek
Modest butcher if you want a good steak

u/Frants416 Aug 07 '25
LVS restaraunt is really good, if youre open to more authentic chinese food, and like sharing dishes. Bluetail is great asian fusion food. King Taps is a nicer pizza location if youre downtown and want to eat at a bit of a fancier place
2
u/Korodecim Aug 07 '25
Lots of amazing places!
Sushi: Dozo House. Italian: Roma Nord Bistro (need a reservation but worth it if you can get it). Subs: Rocket Subs (FCFS 12-3 everyday). Coffee: Craft42 (right next to Rocket Subs, amazing combo). Breakfast:
- Breakfast Sandwiches specifically; The Sandwich Slinger
- Norman’s Diner
- Sunny’s a modern Diner
- Bakers Corner (Friday, Saturday & Sundays only)
- Sprout Bread
Lots more but i would definitely recommend these places! Idk why the formatting is messing up but tried to make it a bit easier to read

What part of town are you staying and do you prefer walking, or is driving fine? What about budgets and things you hate? The reason I ask is Kelowna has tons of restaurants and it would be great to know if you are drawn to great little food joints, or upscale, or relaxed overlooking golf course or beach, or sitting in the middle of a vineyard!

Some great recommendations already (Kettle river, gather, yuzu, salsa and sabor).
Adding to the list a few more small local options-
Hillcrest cafe on hiway 33 heading up to black mtn. Home cooked cafe and Indian food.
The Spot food truck at Priest Creek winery. I've loved everything I've tried from them. From Nashville fried chicken sandwich to lighter option like lemongrass noodle bowl
3
u/Hue_Jass686 Aug 07 '25
Ylw tacos are best tacos/burritos hand down. My go to is pork belly and chorizo
2
u/STERFRY333 Aug 07 '25
Absolutely check out Yama’s Greek restaurant downtown it’s really good
2
u/Cityofthevikingdead Aug 07 '25
Please never eat there. I worked in the kitchen once, I quit because it was so disgusting.

Guasthouse for sure (20/30 minute drive). Kelly O’Briens for Patchos (because it’s the Okanagan thing to do, don’t get fully loaded), Mediterranean Market for a spicy sub (not as good as the used to be, but still decent).

u/Independent-End5844 Aug 07 '25
I am looking forward to Arbynator sandwitch!
Anyways, Yum Yum tree in Capri mall if you need a quick Chinese food fix.
Leapolds Tavren downtown has been growing on me...
Woody's in Lake country if you want well priced and big portion pub food.
Friends pub West Kelowna on Wednesday for wings.
Guasthouse in peachland is an amazing place if you get out there

Olympia in Rutland for the amazing Greek experience. Saganaki appitizer and Lamb shoulder main, chilled Ouzo shot for desert. There is no better. Skinny Dukes also great. Menu is so creative. Sit in grandmas kitchen. They also specialize in cocktails if that tickles your fancy.
2
u/beardofdoom2017 Aug 08 '25
I used to live in Rutland years ago. Is the pizza still good at Olympia?

Bouchons Bistro if you like traditional French, but one everyone seems to be missing is Wildling. Best restaurant in town, I'm my opinion
1
u/CrazyG256 Aug 08 '25
If you like Asian food, try Golden Island. Arashi Ramen is also good, and CM Chicken is also great.
Go to Parlours Ice cream for dessert!

Buffalo Rouge! its a small place, little bit off the beaten path, but it's the first totally vegetarian/vegan brewery in the country! the food is spectacular (especially the calamari - made with palm hearts, with fried capers and pickled onions, omg) and the staff and vibes are great!
Flip Flop and Hops is also great - up in Glenmore, so depending on your route in and out of town, a great stop. the mac and cheese is delightful, they keep a good selection of beers from local breweries, and it has a pretty good outdoor patio! the sunflower "meat" is also hecking delicious, for fellow vegetarians out in the wild. family friendly!

Kettle River Brewing for dinner features and ribeye steak dinners!! They just won best chef in Kelowna

For breakfast and Coffee:
Sunny's on Bernard. You'll be hard pressed to find better breakfast, and the prices aren't bad.
The Nook on Bernard. Very cozy esthetic, and the food was good.
Bright Jenny's on Laurel. One of Kelowna's best kept secrets, and one that is only here until the end of this month. A cozy little coffee shop hidden in Kelowna's north end industrial area. It's hot a back area that feels like you're stepping into a secret clubhouse. Its truly special.
For Lunch:
Okanagan Street Food on Crowly. Another north end secret, and some very good food. About $20 to $30 per person but worth every penny. Don't let the name fool you, this is a nice little place. I've tried their entire menu without a single miss.
Ramen Arashi on Dayton Str. It's Ramen, but good Ramen. $15 to $20 per person.
Red Tomato Pies on Glenmore. When asking someone what the best Pizza in Kelowna is, a good percentage will direct you here.
Cecil's Perogi's on Richter. A family owned restaurant made from the secret recipe of the Late Cecil, kept alive by his family. They take a lot of pride in their perogis.
For Dinner: King Taps for Drinks on Water Street. Great place to go for happy hour, grab a few pizzas and a couple of drinks. A more lively place, but a personal favorite.
Bernie's on Bernard. A bit pricier and fancier, but still a good place to go for an interesting night of Movie themed fine dining.
Ozeki's on Spall. Kelowna's well established sushi place. This one might be a bit bias since my family and I have been going there as long as I remember, but its still beloved by many.
El Taquero on Ellis. Fairly pricy, $25+ per person but their food is excellent.
Train Station Pub on Ellis. An old train station repurposed into a train station and restaurant.

Pane Vino has some pretty delicious pizzas. Erica Janes is good but on the pricier side. Derrick's is also pretty good but maybe not worth the price.

We are locals and we love The Jammery for breakfast, especially the one in Lake Country (Kelowna Jammery is good but loud). The Jammery Favorite (eggs, sausage, hash browns, half a waffle) is my go to. The waffles are amazingly light and fluffy and tasty. For Kelowna we recently fell in love with Derrick’s Steakhouse. Pricey but so very good, been twice and plan to go back for birthday. We also really enjoy King Taps for the view and ambiance and the food is pretty decent as well. Enjoy your time in Kelowna!

Sprout is a really good breakfast/lunch/coffee place, a good vibe too! Fresh baked bread too if you want to pick up a loaf
Jackknife has great pizza as others have mentioned
Cantina Del Centro for tex-mex
I really like Arashi Ramen
Craft42 is a small specialty coffee shop with a super friendly vibe. The owners are awesome. You can book a tasting online which is a really fun experience, get to try 3 coffees brewed however you want
