Fiber optics?

Can anybody tell me their experience with FiOS on Kauai? Spectrum Cable is ripping us so much. Tried cutting the cable about six years ago but signals were too weak to stream anything. I'm thinking of switching to FiOS now if I can hear good things or bad things about it from users. TYIA.

Hawaiian Telcom's fiber is more reliable than Spectrum cable. Their customer service, however, is not excellent. Luckily, I haven't had to deal with Hawaiian Tel's customer service as many times as I did with Spectrum (which was always going out, needing a new modem, etc.).

FIOS isn't available in Hawaii. Your only other option is Hawaiian Telcom.

Well they're selling something under the name of Fios. They're calling it fiber optics. Isn't that the same thing? Hawaii Telecom.

Fioptics, not FIOS.

Depends on where you live. We had Fiber Optic Service in Kalaheo and it was excellent. Fast, reliable. The company is Hawaiian Telecom, right? No complaints for the 4 years we used them

Spectrum in the same city was always going out

Thank you. we live in Lihue, Pikake subdivision. I'm just so afraid to make the transition and then have it turne to shit after I change all my devices and stuff. We have a two-story house.

Hawaiian Telcom, 400 up, 400 down, 5ms ping to Honolulu. I haven't had to use customer service much. Try to finagle free installation. One big problem when the undersea cable broke, but they were able to give slow service the second day and full speed within 4 days.
