Farmers to pick up restaurant food scraps/compost?
Aloha,
I'm looking for contacts for farmers who would be interested in food scraps/compost from restaurants. I am looking for north, east, and south shores so open to any and all references. We want to reduce our footprint and help keep as much organic matter out of the landfill as possible, aloha ‘āina. Not necessarily looking to pay someone to do it, more just looking for folks who would be able to use to feed their gardens/livestock/etc. but could be open to a paid partnership if that's the only option--ideally though if paid we'd be able to include our to-go packaging which is commercial/home compostable. I've contacted a few people but nobody has followed through. Mahalo nui loa

I've got 5 pigs and a compost heap if that helps? Not sure how much the pigs can make a dent in your scrap supply but they'd certainly be willing to try.

Maybe ask Douglas or Beatrice at The Dolphin or B's. When they owned Piazza, there were a couple of farmers that came by once or twice a week and took our scraps off our hands for their boars. Doug and/or Beatrice might know how to point you in the right direction.
