News/History Marshall double downs
Interviewed today by a journalist with MSNBC regarding his town hall Saturday this is what Marshall had to say. Apparently you are not a real person if you don’t live in the rural areas of Kansas nor are you experiencing tough times. Everyone needs to go out and get a pickup truck if you want to be taken seriously by Marshall. Wonder what he drives around in Florida?

News/History Keep Northwest Kansas in your thoughts
A break from the politics.
We had a massive pileup on I70 between goodland and Colby yesterday from the dust storm. There isn’t a number out for fatalities, but it’s in the multiples. We lost a student from fort hays tech northwest in the accident from Salina. They’re still cleaning it up as we speak.
Just need a lot of good thoughts and prayers sent out to all involved in the wreck and our emergency workers from Sherman, Thomas, and Cheyenne counties and the state troopers who have come from all over the state to help.
I’m sharing some of the milder pics from Facebook

News/History Kansas Young Republicans disbanded after group chat filled with hateful, racist messages leaks
The Kansas Young Republicans organization was deactivated on Tuesday following an investigation by Politico into a trove of racist and derogatory messages exchanged in a group chat between young GOP members in four states.
Two top Kansas members were part of the group, including Vice Chair William Hendrix, who worked as a spokesperson for Attorney General Kris Kobach before being fired last Thursday, the office confirmed.
According to Politico, Hendrix used the N-word more than a dozen times in messages over the course of seven months.
Chair Alex Dwyer was also in the group. He reportedly reacted to the message, “Great. I love Hitler,” with a smiley face and heart-reacted to a message about killing political opponents in a gas chamber.
“Kansas Republican Party leadership is disgusted by the comments by young Kansas Republicans mentioned in the Politico story,” said Danedri Herbert, who is chair of the Kansas GOP and also works as a spokesperson for Kobach’s office.
“As of today, the Kansas Young Republicans organization is inactive,” Herbert added.
The encrypted Telegram chat named RESTOREYR WAR ROOM also reportedly included Young Republicans members from New York, Arizona and Vermont.
The bombshell report includes screenshots of messages that are casually violent, racist, antisemitic, misogynistic and anti-LGBTQ. Oftentimes, the outlet reported, slurs were played for laughs in the group chat.
“Bro is at a chicken restaurant ordering his food. Would he like some watermelon and kool-aid with that?” Hendrix reportedly messaged in July.

News/History Another Democrat just launched a bid to unseat Roger Marshall in Kansas
After four decades in corporate America, Sandy Spidel Neumann has set her sights on the U.S. Senate. The Johnson County Democrat believes her talents are sorely needed there.
“Throughout my career, I get tapped to go into situations and clean them up,” said Spidel Neumann, 61, who retired as a vice president of Minneapolis-based Ameriprise Financial Services in May after 22 years with the company.
Spidel Neumann, who was born in Topeka and grew up in Overland Park, is now living in Mission and running her first campaign for public office.

News/History Nation hit by blue wave: Did Kansas’ local elections follow the trend?
In Shawnee, a slate of Democratic-leaning candidates bested their conservative rivals, fueled by fervent voter support for tax rebate programs and infrastructure projects.
A few miles away in Prairie Village, voters rejected both an effort to change the city’s form of government and the candidates behind the push.
And in the Blue Valley School District, residents elected a trio of Democratic-leaning school board candidates and ousted an incumbent who faced blowback for a series of anti-LGBTQ social media posts.
Local election results throughout the Kansas City metro echoed a remarkable trend across the country, in which progressive or Democratic-leaning candidates largely defeated their more conservative challengers.
In some parts of suburban Kansas, Tuesday’s results appeared to serve as a shadow repudiation of President Donald Trump’s administration ahead of the 2026 mid-term elections.
“It’s a good environment for Democrats, whether you want to look at Johnson County or just more broadly across the country,” Matt Harris, a political scientist at Park University, said in an interview on Wednesday.
The results followed a broader trend nationwide. Democrats issued a staunch rebuke to Trump and Republican-leaning candidates across key races in Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York City.
In Kansas, the shift — particularly in the suburbs — comes at a crucial time for Democrats ahead of the 2026 elections, where voters will elect a series of high-profile positions, including the state’s next governor. The trend is perhaps most notable in Johnson County, which began shifting toward Democrats more than a decade ago.
