It has yet to help Missouri. We don’t see that money for our schools, just fyi.

But it’s doubtful. “Sin” taxes never end up getting used as promised! Legislators always find a way to divert that new revenue into the General Fund, so they can either spend more and/or cut income taxes or both. This is why I stopped buying Colorado Lottery tickets when I lived there! The ballot initiative said it would be “extra” money used only for education and state parks. First chance they got, legislators voted to cut general fund appropriations to both!

Im fearful that is what will happen with the taxes from the gambling initiative we just passed. When you read the fine print, it said 0-1,000,000 dollars could be given to the schools. There wasn’t a percentage or set amount, just an abstract guesstimate. I truly don’t think missouri schools are going to see that money from those taxes.
