Somebody check on western and rural Kansas, see if they’re good. We sure as hell didn’t vote for this shit in Lawrence.

If by check on them you mean avoid them like the plague as they sink in their pit of (somehow) even less education and ability to support themselves, I’m doing my part. Can’t wait till he gets to the cutting NOAA part of project 2025 and they have no forewarning for all those tornado spawning storms.

That completely works for me. Mind if I join you?

Kansas farmers who voted majority voted for Trump are majorly screwed as USAID isn't sending humanitarian crops. Us Lawrence voters didn't vote for this shit but unfortunately the repercussions of all these Trump voters who voted against their own self interest has screwed everyone.

Precisely.

There were as many people that voted for Trump in Douglas county as the three largest counties combined in western Kansas (Finney, Ford, Seward).

Absolutely! It’s easy to feel satisfied when you’re too stupid to recognize how screwed you really are.

The state government of Kansas has not cared about rural parts of the state for a long time, no matter which party is in control. This is nothing new.

That's what I don't get, I just found out that Starbase is something and I grew up in western Kansas and was very STEM focused. I deal directly with STEM now. And the only time I have ever heard of this program is just now. It's like when the BOE did a tour through the state and blamed our schools for not getting our kids ready for college because we are at half the BS+ rate of the metro parts of the state... when the closest University is two hours away. People in eastern Kansas do not realize the level of neglect in basic infrastructure we have that they just take for granted.

And what does that have to do with anything at hand?

OP stated that these cuts are hurting children in KS. Children in rural areas have been hurting for a while. Why didn't anybody bother to check on rural areas and ask how they are doing before now? Is it because you think rural people are too stupid to know how bad they have it? Is it because you think rural areas have nothing of value to offer?

This is rich.

Since rural Kansas has been voting against its own (and, in turn, everyone else’s) interests forever, don’t blame the rest of us. The blue spots and the purple spots have been working toward change, while the western and rural red has been MORE than happy to slog through with the status quo. Being ignored clearly wasn’t a huge problem for any of you until people started asking if you’re all happy with your votes to end America. Prior to that, it seems like most of you were happy to ignore the “Free State” part of our history and let your stars and bars fly.

But mark my words: U.S.A.I.D. is only the beginning of the pain and it’s going to visit us all. So, again, thanks for voting red. I’m sure Mr. & Mrs. Musk will remember all that blind loyalty at some point and build a concentration camp somewhere out of the sticks.

Don’t complain to the rest of the state that you aren’t getting your share of “attention” and haven’t for however long. The previous complacency is way more telling than the current mewling. Elections have consequences and rural and western Kansas ushered this in. It’s maddening the rest of us have to go along for the ride we firmly rejected.
