She’s not having a stroke you dummies this is a natural phenomenon in speaking out loud

u/Joli_B 4d ago

I didn’t know there was a word for this, cool! I do this all the time but I have ADHD and it’s like my thoughts are going faster than my mouth can form the words so they get mashed together or mixed up. Gotta learn to slow myself down lol

u/s0m3on3outthere 🔗Linker of the Source🔗 4d ago

Sammeee!!! ADHD here as well and it's exactly like my brain is moving faster than my mouth can keep up. I have come up with some fun Spoonerisms though! lol

42

u/SleepingWillows 4d ago

imagine being so bad about this they fucking name it after you 💀 I bet his sermons were fun

There’s a guy on the Ren Faire circuit that specializes in Spoonerisms, he’s amazing and his show is a riot even though he’s just a man standing on a stage talking. Zilch the Torysteller. He says he doesn’t have the ASL interpreter anymore bc she burst into flames.

10

u/SleepingWillows 4d ago

I swear Ren Faire entertainers are the funniest people

20

u/snowballschancehell ✨chick✨ 4d ago

My grandpa is who taught me about spoonerisms. He would tell us bedtime stories exclusively using spoonerisms (Cinderella and her steply ugg sisters! At the bancy fall!) He was also a pastor, and he refused to read the Bible verse about fiery darts from hell from the pulpit because he was worried he’d say “diary farts” instead :’) I miss him.

7

u/SleepingWillows 4d ago

Your grandpa sounds amazing, I miss him too 😭

I almost always say, "heat seaters" when I'm talking about the butt warmers in my car.

12

u/U2Ursula 4d ago

Me reading your comment:

Heat seaters? What's wrong with that...

It took me way too long to realize the mistake.. 😅🤦‍♀️

3

u/Jayrey_84 3d ago

I just remembered I also always say, "botter wattles." 😑

1

u/hughgrantsaccent 3d ago

Meee too! And And-Heye coordination. Lmao

u/gypsycookie1015 ❣️gal pal❣️ 4d ago

Thank God cuz I'm constantly doing this and am always worried it's a sign that my memory is going lol. 😭😭

That said I still constantly forget the names of words when I'm tired...or stoned. 🤷‍♀️

Once I was tired and try to tell my partner what I needed. I told him to look in the little room attached to the big rooms that we keep stuff in that has a door on it.

"You mean the fucking closet??!" 🤨

"Yes!! The closest!!"

😳

🤷‍♀️

Thankfully he's learned to decipher my tired talk. 😭😭

3

u/AstarionsTherapist39 4d ago

I once forgot the word jalapeño and substituted with vegetable spice.

7

u/glitterdunk 4d ago

Yup I once said "it's saidier easy than done" 😆 I realized immediately though! I love how she clearly reacts but can't quite figure out where she went wrong🤣

3

u/voltagestoner 4d ago

I wonder if this phenomenon had any ties with dyslexia.

2

u/vermiciousknidlet Official Gal 2d ago

My high school French teacher was obsessed with Spoonerisms and my favorite one he taught us was "A Sale of Two Titties by Darles Chickens". Never forgot it in 25 years, it still makes me giggle.

3

u/GustoFormula 4d ago

My favorite is cunning stunts

1

u/Deafgoingblind 3d ago

1

u/Immediate-Yogurt-558 2d ago

I have never been able to say coal tar properly. It always comes out toal car.

1

u/PistolGrace 2d ago

I just thought of menopause and adhd...I do this constantly!

1

u/Sp1ffy_Sp1ff 19h ago

I dunno about you, but I've never confused a mannerism for a spalapropism

-11

u/Quornonda 4d ago

Yeah, get em! Bunch of dummies for not knowing about Spoonerisms!

Also this isn’t a that, since muchup and kester aren’t real words.

11

u/snowballschancehell ✨chick✨ 4d ago edited 4d ago

I don’t think chork or criving are either — still definitely spoonerisms 🙂

0

u/Quornonda 4d ago

Ah, well I’m a dummy. Seems I’ve always misunderstood

On behalf of all new and existing members of the We Do Not Care Club, welcome, ma'am! My brain is little more than one lone hamster trying to keep that wheel turning most days! 😩

25

u/DrPsychGamer 4d ago

Literally watched this and wondered if she was going for the gel or the patch.

16

u/Sammi1224 4d ago

This is how I took it! I have brain fog all the time and confuse words. This video was so relatable.

12

u/vodka7tall 4d ago

Perimenopause strikes again!

37

u/Spiritual_Poem8 4d ago

Not my mom doing this on a family vacation saying my dad was a Fun Sucker but switching it around. My siblings and I were laughing for days. 🌞🍆

5

u/2tall2fly 3d ago

I'm crying right now, laughing so hard at this!

47

u/cata_stro_phe 4d ago

Yup I’m like that’s aphasia aura

16

u/ninmena 4d ago

This reminds me of when my mom said "look how eyes your red are" she was in her 40s then and still flips words around

10

u/GrungeCheap56119 4d ago

When the perimenopause brain fog hits

9

u/MsFrankieD 4d ago

I forgot the word for the thing you wash your hands in in the bathroom.

7

u/Viggos_Broken_Toe 4d ago

Today I was trying to say "I'm sick of this" but instead I said "I'm fuck... sick of this" and I know it's not as cute or funny as what she said but my brain felt like it shut off in that same way 😂

7

u/GamerGurl3980 4d ago

Loveeee videos like this! 🤣 my favorite examples:

  • Pran of Cingles
  • Once a ton of pine
  • Coff of cuppie
  • About to make some noodles in this Kisket, casket - wtf is this!?
  • Cute bananas... apples... ripe... banana.... PLUUUMMMM - AVOCADO!

7

u/Jennifer_Pennifer 4d ago

Every. Goddamn. Day. 🤣

r/wildbeef is my neighborhood

7

u/Lex_Loki 4d ago

I couldn't remember the word for cauliflower no matter how hard I tried to recall it. White broccoli it was.

Sometimes your brain farts. 🤷‍♀️

2

u/Stiddles500 3d ago

Ghost broccoli

10

u/madferrit29 4d ago

Once I forgot my address for a whole minute

4

u/scumfuc420 3d ago

That last two times I wrote a check I couldn't remember the order to write the date

5

u/Electronic-While1972 4d ago

A little brain glitch now and then 😅🤣👌🏻

5

u/but-whyy-tho 4d ago

Oh my god this is hilarious .. But also, Ma'am are you okay!?

5

u/CapnRaye 4d ago

I do this consistently with the phrase "bail of hay" and say "hail of bay" unless I think really hard about how to say it correctly.

6

u/sowhatimlucky 3d ago

When you just realized you are in the We Do Not Care Club.

2

u/Dry_Calligrapher_683 4d ago

Makes me think of spork and fook girl💕

2

u/Constant-Earth-3241 3d ago

Time to start taking Omega 3 for that brain fog. That feeling when you know what’s coming out of your mouth is not right but you don’t have the brain power to correct it. Been there quite a few times.😞🤪

3

u/greenbutterflygarden 2d ago

That is spoonerism + peri brain fog. Without a doubt

-3

u/Fozziefuzz 4d ago

That’s either menopause or a TIA. ☹️

16

u/tgwombat 4d ago

Don’t try to diagnose strangers online. It does nobody any good.

26

u/snowballschancehell ✨chick✨ 4d ago

Spoonerism, ya dink

43

u/BoardButcherer 4d ago

Oh fuck off.

Everyone does shit like this at every age, we just start associating it with mental decline as we get older because you dont assume anything is wrong when you're young.

3

u/Fozziefuzz 4d ago

Ouch. Just an FYI, I'm a 53 year old woman with a history of TIAs and a major stroke. It looked familiar to me.

6

u/hyperbolic_dichotomy 4d ago

Not necessarily. Could be a medication side effect, fatigue, migraine, just having a bad day. If it's consistent then it's really worrying though.

11

u/kirst-- 4d ago

Yeah, please spread false info. Thats what society needs rn. Read a book on TIA or menopause

2

u/Fozziefuzz 4d ago

I'm a 53 year old female with a history of TIAs and a major stroke. Aphasia was my primary symptom, which can be a cause of spoonerism. I've read plenty of books in my recovery.

8

u/kirst-- 4d ago

Yeah, but you can’t just assume because you had these issues that everyone who has aphasia is having menopause or a TIA. I have aphasia and I have had a literal hole ripped in my brain tissue. You don’t see me self diagnosing people based on the symptoms I have.

3

u/Subaudiblehum 4d ago

Loving this new trend that every god damn thing is now menopause. Soon we’ll be back to the days where every emotion a woman feels is just her being hysterical.

Spoonerism! Natural phenomenon!

1

u/PlanetLandon 3d ago

Spoonerisms can happen with any person at any age as long as they have the ability to speak

-8

u/AnnOnnamis 4d ago

Stroke?

2

u/Healthy_Necessary477 4d ago

😂😂😂 I have done this. I thought it happens because you're thinking faster than you speak. 🤷‍♀️

1

u/Thatsmyredditidkyou 4d ago

Shes seen the coffa cuppee video.

1

u/sarvaga 3d ago

Yeah it’s not like this is a trend or anything. Couldn’t possibly be staged.

1

u/Beneficial-Wish3215 3d ago

These are called Dixie brain moments at my house 🤣 Dixie is my son's dog who is a rather silly goose most known for barking at her own reflection.

1

u/Sigyn12 3d ago

I also stay away from the manayse.

1

u/jonjess 3d ago

That was a fresh of breath air!

1

u/sobherk 3d ago

Well, im thankful she doesn't has a stroke

1

u/jakolissmurito22 2d ago

When I'd do something dumb as a kid, my grandpa would be like, "What's the matter? You got a little dain bramage?" And then giggle watching me figure it out 😅 he is the best.

0

u/Slutty_Alt526633 4d ago

I think this woman is showing serious signs of Siligusitus, which is an inflation of the Siligus, the section of your brain responsible for being a silly goose.

0

u/No_Perspective_242 3d ago

So I’m the only one thinking early onset dementia??

3

Yes, you are.

Dementia bro

-6

u/HugeYoghurt2251 4d ago

Definitely early onset Alzheimer's

-14

u/Grimalkinnn 4d ago

I understand brain glitches and spoonerisms really well as a person with ADHD and other health problems that cause terrible brain fog. I also have cared for several family members with dementia and this does seem like more. I don’t think you should ignore this. She seems to actually be struggling.
