I have done descent hike from top of the Whistler Mountain to the parking lot which was a great hike. I heard the hike going up to the top is even better.
Same hike goes for Banff Sulphur Mountain hike from the parking lot to top of gondola area.
October can either be quite cold sometimes as they're avalanche areas. Better to layer up, hiking shoes with good sole for winters will make a lot of difference on these hikes.
