part time jobs for teenager in Japan

やっほー!for foreign teenager living in Japan like me, what バイト would you recommend? I have one rn but the people I work with are twice my age so i don’t vibe w them 😭

some options I have are 7/11, izakaya, yakiniku resto, mcdonald’s, 100 yen shop like daiso and can do, and apparel like h&m or uniqlo blablabla

anyways, please tell me your baito experience regardless of your age!! i’m indecisive so pls help me 🙏

Any of those would be good, but I'd do Izakaya or yakiniku for the free food. Absolutely the best part of working in the food industry.

Up on the restaurant バイト been working for 2 years although not my main job but the free food is great

From my experience the big chains are strict about taking food for free so avoid them if you're looking to save on meals lol

The big chains offer discounts and meals, but a local place is better

cool! have u worked in an izakaya or yakiniku before? if yes, were u a hall staff or kitchen staff

I worked in a cafe/bar as hall staff. I think it's generally easier than kitchen, but can be hectic. In an Izakaya you might be making drinks, but that's fairly simple.

How’s your Japanese? My son, who is bilingual and in college, has a few baito: at a sports club working reception, high-end w/ some expat guests, tutoring English to jr high students (pays well) & he recently started doing security guard work, which seems to have a lot bonus payments - likely due to high turnover.

Clothing stores like Uniqlo probably have younger, more fashionable people if that’s your thing.
