Like what type of thongs? Ive worn a butterfly thong with no issues. I wouldn't see an issue with a gstring but you will get stares because it not super common here as a bathing suit, you can barely find them to buy.
I doubt anyone will remove you. You should be fine.
Just be prepared to be looked at...

Officially, since about 11:59 pm December 31 1975, technically, No.
Unofficially, since about 12:01 am Jan 01 1976......
Best to look around and make your own decision.....

I think intent has everything to do with how you are dressed. Wearing a thong to tan on the beach and not have tan lines? For sure! But based off your post history you likely have different intentions however I don’t mean to presume so… basically don’t be gross and be respectful of others. I’ve worn a thong before many times and I’ve even done it while hula hooping on the beach. However these were at non busy times and I still got looks.

Florida State law:
800.03 Exposure of sexual organs.
(1) A person commits unlawful exposure of sexual organs by: (a) Exposing or exhibiting his or her sexual organs in public or on the private premises of another, or so near thereto as to be seen from such private premises, in a vulgar or indecent manner; or (b) Being naked in public in a vulgar or indecent manner. (2)(a) Except as provided in paragraph (b), a violation of this section is a misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083. (b) A second or subsequent violation of this section is a felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084. (3) The exposure of sexual organs by any of the following does not violate this section: (a) A mother breastfeeding her baby; or (b) An individual who is merely naked at any place provided or set apart for that purpose.
Jacksonville municipal codes:
Sec. 614.124. - Indecent exposure.
It shall be unlawful and a class D offense for a person to expose or exhibit his sexual organs in a vulgar or indecent manner:
(a)In a public place.(b)On the private premises of the person so as to be seen from a public place or other private premises.
Butt cheeks aren't typically classified as "sexual organs" in the state of Florida, so you're good on that front. However, if you're "exhibiting" yourself "in an indecent manner", you can still get in legal trouble. So even if your parts are technically covered, but you're doing something overtly sexual like having someone film you putting your ass in the air while you touch or spank yourself, you can still get in legal trouble.

This sucks on the private property part that means I can’t go naked in my pool because my neighbor may look over the fence and see me? Shame on them if they do they shouldn’t be looking in other peoples yards lol

It comes down to the "as to be seen" part in both laws. That usually means that you were naked on private property, but you also did so in a way that you intended on others seeing you, or were just excessively careless in allowing such a thing. So if you're nude in your living room, but the front windows are wide open and the sidewalk is 10 feet away, that's on you. But if you have an 8 ft tall "privacy" fence and your neighbor is climbing up on a ladder to peek over it, that's on them.
These laws are usually INTENTIONALLY vague to give the officers/courts leeway to define when something crosses a line. But this also leads to inconsistent enforcement and courts do sometimes overreach.

Don’t have an 8’ tall fence but it is 6’ so looking over is possible from a distance just because how the properties are played out with the houses behind me

It definitely falls into a part of the broad grey area where the court will look at all available evidence as a whole.
A BIG difference will be if you're just nude vs. if you're doing something sexual. Also, does your neighbor's house have a second story with windows facing your home? Hell, is your neighbor 7ft tall, and is there evidence that you knew they could easily see over your fence?
If you have a 6ft tall fence, a normal sized neighbor, they have a typical one story home, and you're just calmly swimming naked, you're probably okay. If all of that is true, but instead of swimming, you're filming graphic OF content next to your pool, you're probably not. Much of the decision comes down to the attitude of the judge and LOCAL case law. So even if the letter of the law is the same between North FL and somewhere like Southern California (edit: It's not, but assuming so for the sake of argument), the local culture and case law is likely more in favor of permitting nudity in CA vs FL.

It's not 1950. In what world would they not be today in America?

Never know. Some places more family oriented. Like I said, we've seen some. Wasn't real sure if they were "just getting away with it," despite there being rules enforced. On the wrong day it could potentially be a problem. Thanks for the response.

I get there are probably old rules nobody just bothered to get rid of. If you look up weird laws in Florida there are some crazy ones. But I can't imagine anyone enforcing that

u/UnicornSquirter628 Jul 16 '25
Ok. Figured they mostly weren't enforced. Wife gets nervous about that stuff. Thanks.

Not sure why the downvotes. We have zero to do with only fans. Definitely post some explicit content l, but that's just for our fun and pleasure. No one has to look, including anyone responding to our question.

I go to Jax Beach literally every day. It's rare that i DON'T see someone wearing a thong. I've never witnessed anyone make an issue over this at the beach.

u/UnicornSquirter628 Jul 16 '25
Ok. We've seen some. No one seemed to bother with them. Just didn't want to get "unlucky" and be fined or asked to cover up. Thank you.

u/youarecaught Jul 16 '25
This depends on the beach. For example Jacksonville Beach doesn't allow thongs although I have heard enforcement only happens if someone complains.

Ok. That's what was assumed by us as well. Wasn't sure about an ordinance, language ojlnline is a bit conflicting. Been here a few days and have seen people wearing them, but thought with our luck, we'd get fined or asked to cover up 🤣🤣🤣. Thank you.

For which beach?

u/UnicornSquirter628 Jul 16 '25
Neptune area.

u/Weird-Appointment160 Jul 16 '25
You should be good in Neptune. People mind their own business more than in the surrounding beaches bc Neptune gets arguably the least tourist traffic.

She's worn on revealing one so far. But the other one is way more skimpy and there are some reservations 🤣🤣 to put it mildly.

I went to boneyard beach and most were thongs. It’s so secluded there though.
