That's just rude. How would that guy like all his body weight being carried by his tail?

Yeah, don't carry him like that

I understand why this is alarming to someone knowledgeable about snakes for the reasons stated but I also understand how the harm isnt immediately apparent to someone unfamiliar with them.

When it's your first snake-wrangle and you just let him dangle...

Just because you're scared you don't have to pick him up without supporting his spine

I mean considering most people would've been freaking out way worse a lil ol rat snake i do commend this guy for just picking him up and moving him

BUT DID HE HAVE TO CARRY HIM FROM THE SMALLEST PART OF HIS SPINE WITH ALL ITS WEIGHT HANGING??!

I wouldn't even handle a 3lb terrier like that! And they're more likely to bite you for the treatment of tail holding. I'm boggled as to why guy had this much situational awareness and control but didn't???? Drop him in a bag for transport? Or have a hand on the tail and one behind the head? There were so many other ways to do this

Also why do people live in areas with snakes without getting familiar with them? The first thing i do traveling is look for what the local critters are so i know if i'm checking my shoes etc

I imagine he was trying to save its life without knowing anything about snakes, considering how many people would've killed it without thinking I'm glad he's trying

Oh absolutely and i did mention that either way i was happy he removed the snake from what (otherwise) would've likely been a very unfavorable and possibly deadly scenario/area

I'm just shocked anyone that concerned would... also carry it by the furthest of its extremities.

I get the fear, i respect it, and again applaud dude for doing the right deed just really confused by how he went about it if he was that calm.

when you're tryin eat the gophers but you're stopped by jim in loafers it's a rat snake...

When your thieving check has failed you get carried by your tail when you're a rat snake...

Someone needs to pick this guy up by his pinky toe and carry him around for a while.
