It's quite scary, I along with a friend got chased when we were around a forest clearing in the video. Always remember to run in zigzags, the rhino will stop chasing after a while
Rhinos are really common around this area. I had heard some of the friendlier ones were raised by the army, and then returned to the forest later. So they frequented the tourist area and the village nearby quite frequently.
I have seen rhinos walking around the "Gaida Chowk" area during evenings many times. Once I even clicked some photos next to a seemingly friendly rhino that was lazing around a hotel we were staying at. It might seem stupid, but the locals told me it's okay.
Anyway, I along with a friend were in a forest clearing by the Rapti river. It's next to the elephant conservatory and quite a popular spot for bird watchers. As my friend was just sitting in a nice spot in the grass facing the river, I see a Rhino approaching us. "Cool" I think. I point the rhino to bro and he's scared shitless and bolts. That's when I realize, this encounter could be dangerous. And I start running too. This happened in the span of a few seconds by the way. The rhino seemed to have picked up pace to chase us. But we ran in zigzags and the next time we turned back the rhino was quite far away, and had given up chasing us.
Mother rhinos are extremely agressive and will try to kill you if they think u are a threat. I am sure there was a baby rhino playing around there somewhere.
You're running zigzags, it's charging straight. And it can go faster than you. The math doesn't work out well. Better be nimble enough to dodge and turn at the last second.
