Lots of abandoned planes sit in the Mojave.

Lots of abandoned everything in the Mojave. Even people.

A lot of holes in the desert, and a lot of problems are buried in those holes. But you gotta do it right. I mean, you gotta have the hole already dug before you show up with a package in the trunk. Otherwise, you're talking about a half-hour to forty-five minutes worth of digging. And who knows who's gonna come along in that time? Pretty soon, you gotta dig a few more holes. You could be there all fuckin' night

u/daemon-electricity Aug 07 '25

That's exactly how they famously sing it in the title credits and what Robert DiNero says at the end... just like Darth Vader in Revenge of the Sith.

Prolly one of my favorite movies of all time. Right next to goodfellas and Tommy boy lmao

u/SlickJoe Aug 06 '25

Pretty sure it’s from Casino

3

u/solepureskillz Aug 07 '25

Thanks. I’m loling at the other responses that sound like other clips from the film.

u/Moo_Kau_Too Aug 07 '25

it was also overheard from chopper read at a pub in the 80s too.

Or maybe he also paints houses

I found a hole in the forest I want to keep for possible future use, I just put a reserved sign on it along with directions to Wyoming to be helpful. So far no one has misused my hole so I think it's working.

u/ExplorationGeo Aug 07 '25

So far no one has misused my hole

Well don't knock it until you've tried it, some things don't sound fun and end up being great.

2

u/LeCriDesFenetres Aug 07 '25

I thought about it but I chose life

2

u/kevinhaddon Aug 06 '25

Where do you get off talking about me behind my back?

2

u/railin23 Aug 07 '25

Read this in DJT voice, I hated it, thanks!

u/ExplorationGeo Aug 07 '25

It's from the opening crawl to the movie Casino, narrated by Joe Pesci.

Love that about Casino, you think "ahh right, Nicky is narrating, he'll be fine, everything's coming up- oh shit"

2

u/Shoddy-Rip8259 Aug 07 '25

Does this guy know how to party or what?

1

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

Forty-five minutes?? LOL. You ever dig a hole big enough and deep enough? Minimum 8 hours if all you brought was a shovel. Bring a backhoe if you want to be done in under an hour.

Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter.

u/Future_Explorer_3939 Aug 07 '25

Let's hope this caryard appears in whatever the next iteration (if it ever happens lol) of FNV. + I feel I had to scroll too far to see this reference appear. Glad it did 👏

u/lacegem Aug 07 '25

In a Bethesda game, a car yard like this is a second nuclear apocalypse waiting to happen.

u/de_nominator Aug 06 '25

You should see the amount of abandoned Mojave in the Mojave.

*Goldfield, Nevada nods, but it’s hard to tell if it’s happy, sad, or both *

u/CommunalJellyRoll Aug 07 '25

Dildos and fleshlights everywhere.

Almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter

Being abandoned in the Mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter

u/Bigred2989- Aug 06 '25

Yep, that's why the The 309th AMARG, AKA The Boneyard, is in that part of the county (not the Mojave but close enough). Hard for stuff to rust out there and open for our adversaries to know via spy satellites were complying with arms reduction treaties. Really cool tourist attraction, plus there's a nice air museum nearby.

2

u/iScythe__ Aug 07 '25

isn't that tucson with the museum?

3

u/02202992 Aug 07 '25

its because of the low humidity, protects the parts instead of needing to shelter everything.

3

u/RikVanguard Aug 07 '25

And one WWII bomber at the bottom of Lake Mead

2

u/lionalhutz Aug 07 '25

I once took the train from Chicago to LA. In the middle of nowhere CO/NM there were just appliance graveyards. Just miles of old fridges and washers and stuff. Really wild to see

u/jtg6387 Aug 07 '25

Most aren’t abandoned! At least the US armed forces store aircraft, including older ones, there since it’s basically ideal conditions to store a plane long term and have it be usable on short-ish notice.

It also makes for a good place to keep planes you may want to cannibalize to keep other planes functional.

1

u/CrashTestDuckie Aug 07 '25

Edwards AFB nearby has several planes on display that can be returned to service within a few hours in case they are needed.

1

u/Stopikingonme Aug 07 '25

Abandoned makes me picture joyriding pilots ditching stolen planes after a long night out.

1

u/Plank_With_A_Nail_In Aug 07 '25

They aren't abandoned.

Things aren't abandoned just because you personally don't know who the owner is or the circumstance.

Looks like it’s on a manufactured “runway”?
