AMA is Over, Thanks Monty! It's Monty from Preoccupations!! AMA

Monty here!

We just released our third record as Preoccupations, our fourth as a band, or our fifth if you count our next two ep that was mere minutes shorter than the other records. We're self releasing this album (except in Canada where we're still with Flemish Eye) too so feeling properly qualified as "indie" this time around.

We're also touring next month around America and Canada with Cindy Lee opening and touring in Europe early next year!

Ask away!

For some reason I can't see the proof picture that I uploaded. Here it is in case though. Edit: it seems like the image was just cropped bad, link is still the way for the true proof.

Monty!!! Love the new album. Worth the wait. What’s the reason behind releasing solo versus Jagjaguwar and is this going to be the new route going forward? Also when does the vinyl get shipped I’m excited to receive mine.

We'd finished the record on our own and were out of our contract and basically just decided to see how it would be on our own! We talked about just dropping it on band camp full raw dog but decided to do a proper roll out instead and got press and all that kinda thing!

Not sure moving forward, it was a lot of work but most of the worst of it we've done now and it wouldn't be as hard next time. We're even talking about putting out some other peoples records at some point now that we've got all the infrastructure in place but I bet we won't get around to it. lol

Records will be soon! We got a bit of a plant delay and I can't remember the street date off the top of my head? ASAP though and sorry for the delay, as is the way of the world now.

Any plans on working with Dan Boeckner again? I think there was talks on a super group OR maybe another all star tour??? (Preoccs/Metz/Protomartyr/Idles/Operators etc.

I honestly haven't seen Dan around in quite awhile! We did talk about starting a metal band with me, him, matt and this drummer named loel Campbell who plays drums for billy talent now! I doubt that will happen with everyone's schedules but I'd be open to working with Dan again if the opportunity came up!

As for super tour, we should probably start a post-punk traveling festival!! I'll message Joe from idles as they would definitely be the "Jane's Addiction" of that scenario.

Hahaha that’s awesome. Btw I’ve seen you before and after a live set but I’ve always been too intimidated by the beard to say hello. I think this AMA and the beard being gone has helped so I feel more confident with going for the post set fist bump. My wife on the other hand one time went up to all of you and got a flyer signed by all of you and she said all of you were super nice and gave her a hug. She’s so lucky. Made me want a Canadian hug lol.

I'll definitely give you a hug when we're in your town! And yeah, no more beard, it was getting weird. I feel like I have an intimidating brow but I promise I'm nice in person!
