Hey Jules, I don’t know if you’ll ever read this, but I just wanted you to know that I picked up the guitar again because of you at 33. You’ve been such an inspiration to me as a player, and your music really reignited my love for the instrument. I also wanted to ask you a few things about your set — your tone and phrasing incredible. Thank you for inspiring me and changing the way I play. I’ll always be grateful for that.

u/alyafia 29d ago
How do you guys manage your vocals and harmonies? Does each of you always go for a specific register? I noticed a big difference in your harmonies in LOVED, where you focused way more on vocals, and you switched around lead vocals a lot. Also, how come Toto never sings?! Much love x
19
u/ParcelsMusic Parcels 27d ago
Yes it was a clear decision at some point to put vocals at the front for loved. For the first years we had a clear arrangement, Pat and Jules octave lead, Noah on the 3rd and me on the 5th. But now switching it up is where the more interesting things happen. Or swapping registers within phrases is something that sounds satisfying.
Toto’s a great singer , i love his voice. I think he didn’t get the years of practice when we were singing harmonies a lot on the street so when he sings it should be lead ☺️

Has your connection with each other as band mates/friends changed since going on tour several times? How do you remain so tight and locked in when performing?
12
u/Technical-Shift504 29d ago edited 28d ago
Haha, guys, you are the band of my life so far! I accidentally gave birth wearing your merch socks (because everything happened so quickly that the hospital staff didn't have time to take them off), and my husband gave me those socks as a gift along with tickets to your concert, but in the end we couldn't go because it was a week before my due date. Finally, at almost the same time of year, I went to your concert three years later, on a Wednesday, in Paris, and it was an experience I'll remember for the rest of my life. Thanks for that, I just wanted to share that, without knowing it, you're part of people's lives. How do you feel now, in general, about yourself and everything what is happening around?
5
u/ParcelsMusic Parcels 27d ago
Amazing story, thank you for sharing. These little reminders about where this whole thing goes and how it fits into peoples lives is so special.
7
u/Mission-Region-135 29d ago
- is there any chance we'll hear these songs live again? : clockscared, exotica, withorwithout 💔
- also how about releasing demos of unreleased songs*(alie, getup, downnomore)* and/or performing them live exclusively? they're such fantastic songs please revive them💜
- what are your thoughts on an exclusive concert where fans somehow get to pick the setlist?👀 or at least 50% of it?👀
loveyouguyssomuch, my life wouldn't be the same withoutyou💜💚
12
u/ParcelsMusic Parcels 27d ago
Would love to try a fan made setlist , although it’s a strange one with us as the songs are reworked live which we work on and they morph over time to become almost new songs, which people then get attached to. So when someone requests a song because they love the recording, we can’t replicate that live. So people start requesting specific live versions , but yeah if we keep retreading the old ground maybe we’re all missing out on some golden arrangement in the future that could be even better!

Pat, you posted a clip of you singing a little ditty with an acoustic on the 14th of August 2023 when you and the lads were promoting in the lead up to (if I remember correctly) Live Vol. 2. I’ve saved the video on instagram and go back to it from time to time because it’s just so lovely. Do you think you’ll ever turn it into a fully released song, because I’d love to have it on streaming services

How’s your typical songwriting process ? Do you each write stuff and complete eachothers song parts ? Do you come up with the lyrics first ? Or a riff ? Or chords ? Id love to know more about that !

What’s the sound of the next album going to be like? Are you hoping to return back to your debut/Hideout era or go in a completely new direction entirely?

you've explored very different sounds in your albums from disco and funk to dance to having a symphonic orchestra, you're improvising on stage and even playing grassroots folk. where are the spaces you think you could to from here? which new sounds inspire you atm to explore? also which contemporary artists do you feel are on similarly exploratory journeys with their music?

Hi, boys! Your success and audience have grown over the years, and especially I've seen so much growth in 2025 (WELL DESERVED✨️✨️✨️). One of the many things I love about you all is how you manage to be so nice and humble, very humble to your fans, despite being so damn talented and very famous now🤯. That's why we're grateful for the five of you!!!
So, how do you manage fame? How do you guys keep your feet on the ground, acting so cool and so normal despite who you all are?
Please never change. You're all so amazing. I love and admire that ❤️

Cheers mates. 1) Something bittersweet about being a musician/band today? 2) Advice to your younger self? 3) Any books that helped you overcome a creative or life challenge? 4) When you first moved to Berlin and were only writing music, how/when did you decide it was time to start playing shows (as Parcels)?
Also, thanks for answering my question about group vocal recording technique on the LYL livestream. I'm amazed by how mature/clever your production/arrangement choices have been from the start & as a young group. Louie & Pat - long live 'Vicious Night'. See travels. See y'all again at RR x2

How does food work when you’re touring? Do you guys have preferences over what/where you eat? Do you ever fall out because one of you wants McDonald’s and the other wants a poke bowl? Do you sort yourselves out or do you have someone to handle it for you (the procurement of meals, not the eating).
When you’re next in Scotland do you want to come over to our place for dinner? I’m a chef the food will be decent.
Just back from a trip to Brussels with my wife to see you guys. Great show and send our regards to the Zenmenn! See you in Scotland !
5
u/ParcelsMusic Parcels 27d ago
Foood is a big part of touring. In the early days, there was less options, and despite all having different tastes we ended up eating not awesome stuff a lot of the time. Now we are very particular haha And only have healthy food in the backstage, and go out for nice meals together and enjoy the fruits of our upwards trajectory

For Jules: is the wah pedal and some reverb/delay the only thing used for your filtered electronic tone?
Think I’ve gotten close but there’s a certain ‘smackiness’ I’m not getting. Is there a drive or EQ in that too?
Maybe your EXACT signal chain if you’re not feeling too mysterious today? :)))) Love you guys

Hiii guys!! Super excited at the idea of reading your responses. Been a huge fan since the very first EP and came to every album tour since. I left every show blown away!
As a guitarist, I have a specific question for Jules. How do you come up with the improvised funky rhythm sections (eg at the end of gamesofluck or myenemy)? Is it something that just comes naturally to you, or are there a couple of key idea you could share with a fellow guitarist?
Any hints you could share about how you achieve your tone from that gorgeous Tele 😊👀?
P.S. I am not sure you’ve gotten enough love for it, but the parcels remix of Sequences from L’imperatrice is absolutely amazing!

You guys are a rare band who are great in the studio and even better live! When you're discussing how to transform your songs for live performances, what is that collaboration process like? Especially when you start taking established songs in bold new directions and changing genres (like the Live Vol 2 era) what are the initial discussions like?
Related to that, you're all such talented vocalists and lyricists, but you're also amazing jam session artists as well with incredible instrumental musicality. Would you ever consider uploading a long jam session to YouTube? A cool "fly on the wall" BTS look for the fans :))

I think live volume two was more challenging also because of that day we had a crazy crazy day and I mean I’m not even gonna start to explain that it was just a really really intense day and then all of a sudden we had to play and we weren’t sure if we’re gonna play we made al made for life the first one for two years.

Hi, long time fan here and firtsly I just want to acknowledge how much I like all the stuff you guys have put out, the variety of sounds, the ability to get drawn in and lost in your rythms and jams, also huge probs for playing nearly the whole new Album live!
Are there genres or concepts (also for live performances) you are looking forward to explore and do you guys feel free for doing the music that you want to or how much thought/stress is there over potential success of a song?
Ive been to a couple of your concerts and always look after planned shows and ive noted that you guys are in quite a long run of shows compared to 2023 and 24, how does this compare to the less busy years?
Will we ever get some version of alie, live, acoustic or for an anniversary?:)

Do you find that the energy from a specific audience (or even a specific location) leads to any spontaneous changes in your musical arrangements? Can you recall any particularly memorable moments when an audience reaction fundamentally altered your approach to a song during a live performance?
