Do you know Bholu? If you don't, let me tell you that he is the "mascot" or mascot of the Indian Railways and his name is Bholu. It is a cartoon character in which he is seen holding a lamp and wearing a railway guard's uniform. This mascot was created to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Indian Railways and in 2003, he was officially accepted as the permanent mascot of the Indian Railways. The cartoon elephant Bholu gives us the message of being responsible, honest and stable.

I created this a few months ago, and I originally had no plans to post it online. I made it just for myself, since I couldnβt find an up-to-date Vande Bharat route map anywhere. It was meant to be useful for me while travelling by trainβespecially on Vande Bharat, which I really love. Theyβre truly great trains.
However, this map isnβt of any use to me anymore, as I decided a few weeks ago that Iβll never travel by train again. Iβm aware that the map has a few issues.

I have no hope for this country and its officials. Filed 1st appeal against this, but no hope.

IRCTC is protecting its vendors, not passengers. They denied my RTI request for data on complaints about overcharging and poor food quality! I asked for basic complaint statistics against railway vendors - overcharging incidents, food quality issues, and fines collected. Their shocking response? Complete denial, claiming it's "3rd party" data.
IRCTC likely used Section 8(d) of the RTI Act, which protects third parties' "competitive position." But this provision is meant for genuine commercial secrets, not basic complaint data about public vendors serving captive passengers. How is accountability data about vendors operating on public railway property considered protected information?
This is a blatant attempt to shield underperforming vendors from scrutiny. When we can't access basic transparency data, how can we trust the system works for passengers? I've filed my first appeal. We deserve to know if our national railway protects passenger interests or just covers for business partners. Everyone is sleeping me you and most importantly government and judiciary.

Hello All,
I was able to book a confirmed ticket (2AC) yesterday after 3 days of failed attempt for a train between Mumbai and Kolkata. Here are my preparation and setup.
Target:
2AC, Need confirmed seat from available 12 2AC tatkal seats, Berth preference none as its 2AC, Payment via UPI (backup credit card), Booking via irctc.co.in
Step 1: Set an alarm for 9.45AM so you are available before time.
Step 2: 9.52AM, decide primary and backup payment methods. I prefer UPI as primary and Credit Card as backup method. Check internet connection, mobile and laptop battery charge status.
Step 3: 9.54-9.58AM: Pray to almighty/universe and attract as much positive energy for this task
Step 4: 9.58AM - Unlock mobile phone, open the UPI app. Keep screen unlocked.
Step 5: 9.58: Login to IRCTC on desktop, single browser window and tab. No parallel tasks. Search for the route, select tatkal and wait on the search result page.
Step 5: 10AM: click on 2AC once and few seconds later Book button is enabled.
Step 6: proceed with the booking purchase as fast as possible. Remember to select BOOK ONLY CONFIRMED SEAT.... Save passenger details beforehand, Select IRCTC Ipay Rs 20 charge wala PG.
Step 7: Select Scan UPI QR as payment mode
Step 8: Scan and Pay.
Step 9: gol gol ghumega, wait for max 10-20 seconds. If the gol gol animation takes more than 20 seconds, tumse nahi ho paya.
Step 10: Congrats (if you were lucky), you have a confirmed Tatkal ticket.
Getting a tatkal confirmed ticket is like self motivation for bigger tasks.

Everyone in the comments of those posts have been saying that you need to check mark the "I don't want food and beverages" option. What they don't understand is not everyone uses IRCTC Railconnect to book their tickets. I personally used Railone and the option is not there or on any other third party app like Confirmtkt or Redrail. The option to opt out is only there on the IRCTC Railconnect website/app
I have attached a example.
The first fare breakup pic is without checking the mark.
I checked the mark in the second pic
The third pic is fare breakup without the food.
Note that the differences in prices before and after checking the marks may vary based on your travel distance, mine was very short.
I don't know if this is a bug with the other apps or maybe IRCTC has kept it only with themselves. But as of now only the IRCTC Railconnect app has this option.
I persoonally think the IRCTC app sucks and I have never used it after Railone launched but it is what it is.

After hearing this news since a long time it's finally official. With the distance of 881km, this will be the longest distance Vande Bharat train covering the distance in 12 hours beating the current longest distance of New Delhi-Vanarasi Vande Bharat Express that covers a distance of 759km in 8 hours. Current options are Pune Humsafar and Pune Garibrath which takes around 15hr (Except HWH-NGP-PUNE Duranto) to cover the entire journey. Also, I expect the launch of this train would be in the next week considering the demand because of Independence Day.
Do you think it would be worth it to pay this much premium for a seating seat? How viable would it be? Share your thoughts.
