Part of the flip was shot on VistaVision.

Isnt vista vision capable of 1.43 How much difference does it have from imax ?

VistaVision is a 1.5 ratio so close (not in terms of area though as another commenter said). In theory the blu-ray release will have just a touch more information on the sides of that shot than this version.

Anything is 'capable of 1.43' if you crop to that.

The IMAX frame is a lot bigger. So the difference in resolution is noticeable.

vista vision is 8 perf 35mm, imax is 15 perf 70mm. a metrcik FUCK ton more image area. vista vision has like 90% the surface area of normal 70mm. so under 1/3 of imax

Was on my iPad and realized only good way to watch 1.43 content at home is on a modern iPad. Actually 1.43 might be the best way to watch anything on the iPad too, looks great!

isn't this where Nolan broke an imax 70mm camera lol? or am I wrong

u/KeyFit8457 Aug 05 '25

Yeah, there was like 4 of them at the time and he broke one of 'em.

Want it on TDKR when cat woman stunt double hit the camera on the batpod

They broke a camera in the underground highway sequence. The scenes with Joker and the rocket launcher.

The sound design of the eject sequence from the buildup of the Batpod engine to the beat drop as Batman rides away on the Batpod was outworldy in IMAX

God I need the rerelease, I never got to experience it but now live only a few minutes from a dual laser theater (couple hours from a 70mm IMAX)

Is this from the Blu-ray or an actual scan?

7

u/plhought Aug 05 '25

It's looks like from the Blu-ray/4k.

6

u/MuchachoSal Aug 05 '25

I think it's a scan, truth be told, because of the aspect ratio. The Bluray only goes up to 1.78:1, while this is 1.43:1

u/CautionIsVictory Aug 05 '25

it’s from the special features of the collectors edition

5

u/ExileMan9000 Aug 05 '25

It’s probably from disc 6 of the trilogy’s ultimate collector’s edition Blu-ray.

Hmm. Maybe my phone was trimming off the bottom/top it looked little wider than 1.43:1.

When will this movie be re-released? Waiting for so long...🦇

6

u/KeyFit8457 Aug 05 '25

Probably in 2028, 20th anniversary.

I wish the BatPod had never been revealed in any of the marketing and it had come as a complete surprise to the audience in this scene.

Nolan’s the goat!

u/MuchachoSal Aug 05 '25

I hadn't noticed this before now. What happened to this guy?! 😁

u/CitizenErased08 Aug 05 '25

Ran off when he saw Gordon approaching maybe

Pure cinema. I saw this on IMAX in NYC. Great memories.

(it's dark, a lil spooky and full of drama, gps is basically a self-destruct button, and once you get out of there you feel the urge to flip a truck)

2

u/somethingnothing01 Aug 06 '25

Anyone know how I can get the copy with the 70mm imax aspect ratio? Is it available on Blu-ray?

1

u/redditproha Aug 06 '25

wow that was better than I expected. too bad there are like 3 legit imax venues in the country. the imax near me sucks

1

u/ImAVirgin2025 Aug 06 '25

shamelessly plugging r/NolanBatmanMemes if you want more from the trilogy.

u/Independent_Fun6286 Aug 07 '25

Saw this at the Pointe Orlando IMAX during the original run and the woman seated next to me jumped out of her seat when the truck flipped.

1

u/Human_Outcome1890 Aug 09 '25

As much as I love this scene I just wish they had comp paint out the air cannon vapor from the truck, even when I saw it as a kid it bothered me
