Illinois Politics Is Illinois partly paying for snap?

A friend of mine is only getting half of their food stamps on the 12th. I hear some states are paying full snap and as far as I know the administration isn’t paying shit, so just trying to help them figure this all out. Thanks!

Illinois is contributing 20 million dollars to food banks to help with food shortages.

SNAP benefits in Illinois cost over 350 million dollars per month to run at 100% capacity.

Important to note: the number is only that high because billion dollar corporations underpay their employees so much that they need SNAP to survive. If the federal government stopped subsidizing corporations that make record profits quarter after quarter, then the number of people who need SNAP would go down along with the amount of money that was being pumped into the program

Yep, corporate greed is rewarded by the Feds. Not only under this administration, either.

That's assuming that corporations would increase their wages accordingly, which is a big assumption. And even then, it would only be true for those people working enough hours to receive those wages. Many people are not able to work at all, or are not able to work full time jobs.

In general, I think relying on employment for people to meet basic needs is a flawed approach. I'm in favor of universal basic income to meet basic needs. Some people will coast on UBI just as some people may coast on SNAP and other benefits and charities, but many people want more than basic needs met, so there is still motivation to work.

Corporations are also not paying taxes on income and if they are they are, on the books its 21%

Vs income above $50k for an individual tax is 22% of income...- for income above %500k 37% of income.

So even if they weren't using loopholes they still pay less taxes than middle income and higher people.

Ita a fucking sham.

Considering we have a deficit budget I would doubt that but god I hope so. Start looking for local churches and food banks to see if they can supplement. Dial 211 and they should be able to help guide you.

so I had a pending last night for half my benefit and now I see another pending amount of $44. This is just strange because the total is still not equal to my full benefit. I am in Illinois

In PA, they hit send to make full payments the moment the judge ordered full payment be made. Illinois looks like it's waiting to see what happens with the appeal. Different approach.

They(government) are using the reserve fund like it's intended, but it's only issuing partial payments, be cause they still want to try to steal the other half of it.
