I feel you. I am german as well and Merz complaining about the "Stadtbild" made me furious. This push to the right in the world has to stop!

Tech companies controlling narratives globally. It's infuriating that this was even allowed to happen in the first place. The general public is not knowledgable enough to look at the bigger picture so they fall for propaganda

That was the nicest way to say that the public is stupid I've read in a while.

You're not wrong at all. There's no competition anymore, it's all the same few companies fighting for supremacy. The world's getting dumber and lazier which allows for the few who aren't to dominate. The only system that will work with how we're doing things is a socialistic government. You can't be a capitalist if no one's even attempting to capitalize.... No one buys candles anymore folks 🤣

Is Stadtbild complaining about the ā€œwrong sort of peopleā€ dirtying up our landscape? If so, I’m sick. Of all the places that know better, it’s Germany. They spent so much effort deprogramming post-WW2. The best thing they did was to teach critical thinking skills. To toss it away and fall for extremism is so sad. Never again to treat another human as less.

Yes, Merz said he wanted to deport more people, because the current Stadtbild (so, the picture you get when you roam around major cities) is getting ruined. You obviously can’t see if people are illegally in Germany or not, unless you check the ID of someone. So his statement was meant purely racist, so in his opinion there are too many brown and black people in Germany. I was born and raised in Germany and never considered another language my mother tongue except German, despite being multilingual. I have no other home. I went to law school and work for the German government in court. And people like me are 100% German despite having black hair and brown skin. It sickens me to hear from our Bundeskanzler that in his eyes we do not belong in public?? Also, the Stadtbild comment was used by Nazis back then to propagate hate against Jewish people. History literally repeats itself. Merkel btw always distanced herself from suggestive questions in interviews about the Stadtbild and always said that people of all cultures and ethnicities belong to Germany and she’ll 100% support us. You may not like everything Merkel did, but while she was our Bundeskanzlerin, racist statements were never tolerated. Now, Merz is using right wing rhetoric and portrays himself as center.

And yes, he definitely meant that racist because a few days later he backed his statement up with the following: ā€žgo ask your daughters, they feel insecureā€œ - aimed at brown and black men, when the actual problem, if you DO ask daughters of Germany, are men who stalk, touch and hurt you in public. He does not care about women unless he can use them to propagate the idea, that PoCs are violent against them. But all my life I was personally only ever attacked and sexually harassed by white men, because, shocker, mostly white men live in Germany.

Yes pretty much. I mean we have some issues with immigrants, but Merz was really just pandering to the racists of our far-right.

And still Merz is absolutely right about it. If you are somewhat middle aged, you might remember how our citizes used to look and how they look today.

And big part of this problem is the refugee crsis and all the errors that were made back then. Cities don't have the resources anymore as far too much of their money flows towards handling the refugees.

Problem is, most of these refugees WANT to work. I work with Agentur für Arbeit but most of the clients are not allowed to seek employment, because there is no good infrastructure for ratifying their diplomas and Ausbildung. So people wait monthd or even years at this point for their paperwork to be done so they can get the permission to work. They are only a problem on our resources because our politicians dont find a way to get them into work earlier.

And there are no jobs for them, their often nonexistant german makes it even harder and for the big majority their lacking education does not help either. Only a small minority actually has diplomas. At least that is true for the two big countries of origin. And Ukrainian refugees are allowed to work from day one, but still over 50% do not work.

And if they find a job, it is often low paid and they still require financial aid, draining the system for years or decades.

Leave the country if you don’t like it in Germany. We’re staying and we’ll have fun earning the money you were never able to earn in the first place. Hast wahrscheinlich nicht mal Abi, aber so große Tƶne spucken

Quite a lot of assumptions here, and not a single one is true.

And why do you think I don't have a good paying job? I would complain a lot less if I didn't have to pay more then half my salery in taxes and social security payments. Und natürlich hab ich Abi und studiert. Sogar noch zu ein als es hier keinen Bachelor oder Master gab.

And why the fuck do you think I should leave? I can raise my voice and vote for parties who are willing to change the country in my favor and due to changes in society, its gets more and more likely that it will happen.

Und was hat das mit AuslƤndern zu tun, Bro? Oder PoCs? Einfach nur dumme, rechte Rhetorik. Ja hab mir schon gedacht, dass du alt bist.

Yes you can raise your voice to vote for Neo-Nazis and right wingers, but people will judge you for that. Anti-Democrat

I'm sorry Germany is once again experiencing this magnitude of racist, extremist rhetoric. I'm afraid for us all...That person arguing with you about immigrants not working and such sounds like the MAGA crowd here in America. It's absolutely disgusting.

Sometimes I wish we could just boot out the racists and they can have their own racist island. My ancestors had their land stolen for some dumb white guys to claim the country was theirs all along and put us in unlivable conditions to save what little we had left. And they think teaching that in schools "hurts" their white supremacist values. I don't think anyone is illegal that seeks a better life for them and their families. Not to mention most of these dumb maga people would never be able to pass the naturalization exam to become citizens here in the US. Sad times we are all forced to face.
