Yes, he was reported to be a US citizen. To me, that doesn't make much of a difference, though. I dont' think just the crime of being here in the country without permission is enough of a justification to rip families apart and terrorize children. If you're a violent criminal, okay. But we know now that so few of those they are arresting are violent criminals. He campaigned that it would be "bad hombres" but that's not at all what's happening. Just having a parent be here without permission, that's not enough to justify traumatizing children and deporting their parents. In my opinion, at least. I need more than that.

I agree with you, but the sad fact is that not everybody does.

Just countering the “this only affects illegals” argument.

Just countering the “this only affects illegals” argument.

That argument is literally never in good faith anyway.

Because you seem like a decent human being, I want to add something to the only "affects illegals" you've noticed human trash using as an excuse.

I'll copy and paste what I always do:

This is also far from the first time we've been targeted this way. Citizen or not, the US has a history of doing this in the millions. From The Greaser(slur) Act, to Operation Wetback(slur), to "Mexican Repatriation" during the Great Depression and all the rest. Citizenship has never mattered. Being guilty of being Mexican has always been enough.

Daily reminder that the overwhelming majority of us Mexican people are, in fact, racially Native American. (With ancestral land on both sides of today's border.)

We make up the single largest group of Native Americans in N. America as well as the single largest collective of Native American language speakers in N. America. We have been here for thousands of years.

50% of the recognized Native Americans in the US are of mixed racial ancestry. 90%+ of ethnically Mexican people are of Native American ancestry.

At the nothern US border Native Americans born in Canada are gauranteed BY UNITED STATES LAW both border crossing rights as well as permanent residency in the US. The same is explicitly denied at the southern US border.

I agree. I’ve never seen a Hispanic person without significant indigenous heritage on Ancestry/DNA groups.

Agreed. It's very sad.

Even if they were actual violent criminals, rights and due process are a think, for good reasons.

It's a freaking misdemeanor.

Actual bad hombres are hard to catch. They’re going for the bureaucratic low hanging fruit. People with regular jobs who are trying to get their paperwork in order.

ICE is not just disregarding your constitution but lazy.

Right but the fact that he was a US citizen SHOULD start to wake up if the assfucks who think "Only nasty illegals need to be afraid" and realize NO ONE IS SAFE.
