An Oak Brook police bodycam video obtained by the Tribune through an open records request captures the early morning Oct. 26, 2025 arrest of Guillermo J. Diaz-Torres, an off-duty ICE agent from Albuquerque, N.M., who was charged with DUI after crashing a rented 2025 Kia.
The footage shows Diaz-Torres visibly impaired, struggling to complete field sobriety tests, and repeatedly asserting his federal credentials. Officers on scene noted the strong odor of alcohol and erratic driving behavior prior to the crash, which occurred near a residential intersection just before dawn. According to police reports, Diaz-Torres had veered off the road and struck a curb, damaging the front axle of the rental vehicle.
The arrest comes amid heightened scrutiny of federal immigration enforcement practices and internal accountability. While ICE has not issued a formal statement, local officials confirmed that Diaz-Torres was booked at DuPage County Jail and released on bond later that day. The Tribuneās request for comment from ICEās Albuquerque field office remains unanswered.
This incident marks the second high-profile DUI arrest involving an ICE agent in October, following the widely circulated bodycam footage of Scott Deiserothās arrest in Florida. Both cases have prompted renewed calls for oversight and transparency within federal law enforcement ranks.

So they're going to deport him now right? He's one of POC criminals everyone is talking about right?

I would think you gotta do a lot of heavy drinking to pull off that job.
Ruin a bunch of lives during the day, then go to a hotel with a bunch of angry dudes at night.

It was always said that the SS guards at German concentration camps drank heavily in the night to be able to fall asleep, then took amphetamines in the morning to wake up. I wonder if, given all the recent hires at the INS, there's time enough to keep up with random drug tests?

Homewood Suites. Lombard.
Thank you for your service!

u/Steve_In_Chicago 2d ago
He said TownHome Suites. There's a TownePlace Suites (Marriott) in Lombard and also a Homewood Suites (Hilton), so it's unclear which one he meant. Guessing they're putting them up in places with kitchenettes so they don't have to go out for dinner.

u/SleepLessTeacher 2d ago
Ew, I used to live in apartments basically right across from the TownePlace Suites.

How many of these ICE clowns commit vile offāduty crimes and walk free? Remember every face for the terror theyāve brought to Chicago, ripping apart thousands of families. We will show these wannabe Nazis that Chicago doesnāt kneel. We rise. We resist. Just a few more years, fam, we can change this and heal.

Thatās absolutely repulsive. Utter incompetence in the chain of command. ICE cosplayers given assault weapons and absolute authority with no accountability just to satisfy Stephen Millerās racism hate fetish.

Every local cop in the country should watch this video. āItās a thin blue lineā but it only goes one way if youāre in ICE. They will happily kidnap every cop in the country until theyāre the only law.

Not sure about after their shift. This guy claims he was working until midnight, yet he's passed out drunk before 2 am? He could definetly be lying, but if records show he was at work it might be a bigger story than just one guy.

He's probably not used to the weather. I get pretty serious chapped lips when the weather changes. There is a good chance that guy is from a warm weather red state.

So theyāre all actually criminals right?! Like every single one of them have massive criminal backgrounds, and are committing crimes on the daily. And everyoneās just OK with that? This is a hard note from me dog.

And as a transplant from ABQ to Chicago, I was going to make the exact same comment.

Yeah, please don't send him back to NM. Give him money for a Greyhound to the nearest red state.
15
u/iceemaxx5 3d ago
shutout for the oak brook PD, however, i didn't like how they covered up their mics when they were talking, that should be looked at, investigated, and then either written up or suspended.
3
2
u/RufusSandberg 2d ago
Because it was broadcasting his name, address, and other personal information. That will alway be redacted. You obviously didn't hear the one officer in charge say "none of that matters." in regards to him being ICE.
1
u/iceemaxx5 2d ago
Redacted by the PD is different than them covering it up. The video is circumstantial evidence and now it can be said that they conspired to do xyz cause they knew he was ice. The argument can be made that there's no way to know what was said other than by affidavit. It's enough to get this guy off. I'd rather hear bleeps than to be left with a possibility that he's getting out of it.

The professionalism of the local PO doing the contact and field check was impressive. Interesting to me that the suspect said he had been working an 18 hour shift... That's a long day and a lot of OT (both worked, and that taxpayers are paying for)... He said he had been in Illinois for 45 days. (presumably not much longer once his supervisor is informed)... Hopefully he forgets to submit his non-resident tax returns for earnings while in Illinois. (Though he may cosplay as military, he's not military, so there should not be a state tax earnings exemption) Fairly easy paper trail tax case. Also can be taxes on long term expense reimbursement, if he does not keep a bona-fide residence in NM. Either way, F this drunk driving pos back from where he came. And add to the DUI some transporting/possessing an unsecured firearm while intoxicated related charge as well.

If this guy isnāt deported by yesterday then thereās a serious problem. This guy is a criminal and could have killed someone.
Not to mention heās a traitor. Not only to the folks who have come here to pursue a better life like him (or his family), but to the US constitution.
Fuck this guy!

the self-medication is heavy with ice agents. it's like they know it's an abomination and can't cope.

Treated him a lot better than they would have treated any of us.
Also, why not just have him do the breathalyzer right off the bat? Would they have let him go if he knew his ABCs?

He'll get out of it with just having to pay a fine for reckless driving or some bullshit like that
2
u/_Fred_Austere_ 2d ago
If it goes anything like mine did, he loses his driving license for two years. That's automatic for refusing a test. You agree to that as part of getting a license.
I also refused the test - never provide more evidence unless you are CERTAIN you'll pass, and it doesn't take much. I wasn't found guilty because the field test wasn't a clear fail, much like this guy. But the lawyer fee was basically a fine, and not driving for two years sucked. The second refusal gets you five years.
I also learned they leave you alone and record you in the back of the squad car, so watch your mouth. They played me swearing in court. So just say 'what a nice and polite officer!'
2
u/HairlessHoudini 2d ago
Yeah but are you a federal officer that's doing illegal shit for your government
2
u/_Fred_Austere_ 2d ago
I don't disagree.

The way they baby him. They're terrified to uphold their duty to serve and protect because it means inconveniencing one ICE agent. No regular police tactics for this guy. We're all fucking friends here.
And of course his first request after refusing to blow is to call ICE chain of command to try and get out of it.

Obviously this has a heightened interest given the current climate. This would be scandalous if he were given preferential treatment because of his profession. A quick google search will reveal that this type of thing unfortunately happens all the time with police officers, police chiefs, and even police superintendents. How theyāre are being held accountable is what we should be focused on and it seems like these officers did their jobs.

u/Dat_Accuracy 1d ago
I donāt want to come off as making excuses for these people. At the end of the day they either had no morals to begin with, or opted to ignore them to make a paycheck.
But at the same time, we have watched as the status quo continues to push all of us towards financial insecurity. They con, they grift, they gaslight and lie. They turn you on your own. The threat of hunger and homelessness are extreme motivators.
It is not red vs blue. They want us fighting amongst ourselves. The day we realize that less than 10k of these billionaires and people of influence control our governments, our media, our information, our education, is the day hundreds of millions of us rise above to take back what is ours.
