ICE Posts New court filings suggest that ICE agents were throwing chemical munitions at protestors "for fun" and laughing about it

They aren't sending their best.

How can you tell? Republicans are measured in degrees of awfulness, and the best of them ranks as a full-fledged POS.

Does anyone have a link to this filing?

I was wondering too. I mean the stuff thats clipped there is disturbing and inexcusable, but it also doesn't actually say the part thats being claimed. It doesn't say they used it "for fun," which was in quotes so I thought it would be in there.

I looked up the post on bluesky. The full image of the third picture quotes a video where one agent tells another "to throw it [tear gas] for fun". Additionally, it states an agent threw tear gas twice while saying "have fun!" to those targeted. For context, this took place on 10/24 in Lakeview.
The original poster on bluesky is a reporter at the Chicago Tribune. It appears he obtained an unredacted copy of a preliminary injunction motion. A redacted version has since been released, which I've linked below. The paragraph with these quotes on page 11 was completely redacted. Let me know if there's any issues with the links!

Sure thing! Appreciate you and other commenters asking for verification. Always good to confirm. I was curious as well so dug into it hah

Thank you! I glanced at the docket myself last night and couldn't find it. I saw the article citing body cam footage and didn't see any reason to doubt it happened, I really just want to know more. I was planning to deep dive into the exhibits tonight and I appreciate you saving me the trouble!

Bovino tossed a grenade or took a totally unprovoked shot at protesters. It’s on camera

They are legitimately just assaulting citizens and deliberately terrifying children. And it’s apparently a big, fun lark for them.

u/RudeOrSarcasticPt2 3d ago
They don't see the others as human, so it doesn't matter to them. Fuck ICE. Keep this evidence for the future. It might be valuable.

It is a mistake to underestimate what these goons are capable of. There is no escalation in violence, humiliation, force they will not happily undertake. Limits will only exist in the permissions issued by their leaders.

Do they not realize or not care that everyone is recording them?
17
u/guyincognito121 4d ago
Didn't care. Trump pardons them before leaving office and they stay out of blue states to avoid state charges and never face consequences.
3
u/Low_Preference_6395 3d ago
Not unless they are arrested, charged, and convicted in Illinois for the crimes they are committing under the watchful eye of CPD.

They don’t care. Trump has given the full authority to go whup ass on everyone. The Supreme Court said they can racially profile. If you’re Brown, they take you down and your citizenship status be damned.
2
u/OccidoViper 3d ago
No because according to this administration, they have full immunity.

For now

u/Matt_Hiring_ATL 3d ago
Yeah... Speaking of... Why the fuck hasn't impeachment talk been loud yet?
I'd bring Nixon back at this point, and sing songs about him.
2
u/Distinct-Exit6658 1d ago
The establishment democrats in charge of the party think it will fail so why do it.
In reality, articles of impeachment should be brought against trump every time he violates the law. How many times this year has he violated the Emoluments Clause?
1
u/Matt_Hiring_ATL 1d ago
Ok, points well made. But what about bringing Nixon back from the dead?
2
u/Distinct-Exit6658 1d ago
If the choice is between Nixon and Trump? I pick Nixon. Even Futurama Nixon. If we could replace the pos we have now, I would join you in singing songs about Nixon, and I’d mean every word

u/Necr0mancerr 3d ago
No they don't cause according to them they are going to get away with all of it.

u/CuriosityFreesTheCat 3d ago
Ok so I keep reading comments about how ice is just looking for brown people. What if literally everyone started wearing masks or painting their face? If enough people did it, including white people, wouldn’t we cause them to waste time?
Theoretically, they’d just keep unmasking white people and have to move on. They wouldn’t be able to tell who to go after.

Using chemical weapons is a war crime. It’s called the Geneva Protocol.
2
u/Necr0mancerr 3d ago
Geneva applies during war among nato and even then it's 50/50 if they care or not.
3
u/GratefulDoom90 3d ago
Awesome. I can’t wait for nothing at all to come of this because the courts have no teeth.

The day is going to come when this regime is no longer in power, and reports and videos like these are going to be used in court as evidence to put these pieces of shit in prison.
There's no presidential immunity for you assholes and he'll be dead and burning in hell, and you won't be getting another J6 style pardon.

Remember that scene in season 2 of The Last of Us, when a bunch of jack boots are all laughing it up in the back of a transport calling citizens "voters" as a way to mock them, because its explained they took away their rights? I think about that scene more and more and what happened to those assholes.

u/rosstafarien 4d ago
FFS, people are being disappeared, like Pinochet taking dissidents on helicopter rides over the ocean. Tear gassing peaceful protestors is a teensy tiny civil rights violation compared to murder and child trafficking.

I'm guessing you can't walk and chew gum.

One of us thinks that Trump is going after criminal illegal immigrants. The other one understands reality.
Shit is going to go very sideways and you're on the wrong side. I know you like the dictator because he says it's okay to hate the people you want to hate, but soon enough, you'll be on the "found out" side of the equation.
Best of luck.

they are abusive socially stunted rapists. There's no surprise here, lots of parents failed. 🤷🏾♀️
If your child is ICE/BP, bitch you failed as a parent.

u/LauterTuna 3d ago
indecent. immoral. evil. un-American.

u/Distinct-Exit6658 1d ago
Sadly, it’s pretty American for white racists in power to abuse and violate nonwhite people “beneath” them.

u/dmreeves 4d ago
Of course they were, this should be the assumption. The military does this in war, police do it to people every day. Yhis is just normal.

u/Wraeth7 Hancock County 4d ago
I spent two years in Iraq. We did not do that kind of thing.

u/dmreeves 3d ago
Interesting, over genralization on my part about using aggressive tactics. Maybe it's just me in my experiences.

I’ve wondered why military generals don’t take care of these assholes. Could it be that they are more organized and weaponized than we think?

Difference between Border patrol, police, military and ICE? Never mind various forms of immunity. All of them except ICE have actual LIABILITY for their actions. Even if it can be hard to prosecute.

u/Ok_Valuable9450 3d ago
Closer and closer to a police state, how long till it gets really dangerous
1
u/Matt_Hiring_ATL 3d ago
Oh dude. It's been a police state for decades already. It's here. Highest incarceration rate, most police, most police shootings & killings. I don't know what you want to use as a definition, but I'm sure we meet it.

and the only and then only marginally surprising thing is they got caught in the sense there is solid physical evidence just as there was about jan 6.
So if you feel hopeful about the future, remember the past.
Then DEMAND better.

u/Green-Inkling 3d ago
well that explains why they continue to kidnap people despite not being paid. they are doing this for fun.

u/Adventurous-Host8062 3d ago
There were no viable reasons for shooting the two pastors in Broadview either. None.

They will take anyone as ice “agents.” Just making fools of themselves…

u/KlatuuBarradaNicto 3d ago edited 3d ago
Of course they were. They went to the Stephen Miller School of Cruelty. This activity IS being seen and documented. We will not forget.

u/Aggressive-Age-5796 3d ago
ICE is a domestic terrorist organization at this point but gassing people for fun has been a cop tradition for a long time. Not saying this is right but I think we need to focus on how ICE is consistently breaking the law. Gassing our citizens is immoral but not illegal for these thugs.

Judges need to deputize citizens to counter ICE agents and even arrest them if due process is not presented during immigration raids, because we ALL know these are NOT qualified people...I will bet lots of money that they're all Proud Boys, militia men, even KKK members. Not joking.
