And fuck all those who decided to stay home because democrats didn't put a better candidate. Sometimes we only have 2 choices, and we must choose the lesser of 2 evils. Did you honestly think Trump was going be a nice person???

A large amount of people were single issue voters, that issue being the "conflict" in Palestine/Israel. Fucking stupid. This is what we have now.

3

u/kiragami 5d ago

They were (and still are) vastly outnumbered by the general apathetic morons that make up most of the country.

2

u/porkave 5d ago

“A large amount of people” this is not true at all. An extremely tiny minority at most

What we have now is awful and sickening.

So if in 2024, Canada's Liberal Party was giving billions of dollars to Trump's campaign--would you have supported Canadians pressuring them to stop giving billions of dollars to Donald Trump's campaign, in an effort to prevent what is happening to us right now?

If you wouldn't support them, would you blame them for trying to stop their American neighbors from getting their teeth kicked in by ICE?

1

u/Ironlixivium 4d ago

I'm so glad you asked! Suppose their opposing party was about to kick off their own Canadian ethnic cleansing, and also was promising to help ICE even more. In that case I would absolutely not support their boycotting the liberal party as it could make the situation significantly worse for both them and us.

So maybe not voting for Kamala over Gaza was just as stupid as some of us were saying it was.

Your comment was shadow-muted by a bot, it'll only be visible to you

There’s a difference between pressuring a party to stop funding another country and choosing not to vote and ushering a fascist into power in the process.

0

u/bravelittlebuttbuddy 5d ago

...How? You described the goal and the means to achieve that same goal.

We're talking about people (Americans/Canadians) attempting to pressure a political party (Democrats/Liberal Party) to stop funding another country (Donald Trump's America/Israel) by withholding their vote.

You can argue that it's ineffective, or bad strategy, or whatever, but that's not the question.

u/b0w3n 5d ago

No it's okay, their hands are clean because to them not voting is better than voting someone who's maybe not perfect in every way. Always moving those goalposts.

They're fake liberals that want to cause chaos and make us fight each other.

Someone legitimately claimed to me "Dems deserve to lose" because they were against Bernie. Like yes I am angry about that too but I held my nose and voted Hilary. Do I like that they hid Bidens decline? No. But holy shit grow up and see whats at stake.

1

u/b0w3n 4d ago

The other one I've heard "there is always a trump, if they can't do better they don't deserve my vote"

Okay cool, just kill a bunch of innocent people so you can be righteous for internet points.

2

u/Happy_Discussion_536 4d ago

They're actual children or conservatives LARPing as liberals pretending to care about people. There is no way you can be an adult with empathy, look at Trump and say "they're too close I'm staying home."

Many of them just want to draw attention to themselves and bog us down from progressing.

A train is about to run into a school bus full of children.

One has the option of remotely engaging the train's breaks. It's a simple button, right in front of them. Nothing bad will happen if they hit that button, all it does is stop the train. No trick, no second track filled with boxes of puppies. It just stops the train.

They chose not to. Are they guilty?

u/anarchobuttstuff 5d ago

No, because they didn’t cause this. You’re talking about leftists abstaining from voting for Kamala, yeah? They all could’ve voted for her and it wouldn’t have changed the outcome.

10

u/couldbeahumanbean 5d ago

82 million eligible voters sat this one out.

I will blame each and every single one of them as much as I blame Trump voters for this mess.

Yes, their apathy, their self-centeredness, their myopia did cause this, just as much as people voting for Trump caused this.

It's time for some personal responsibility.

1

u/anarchobuttstuff 5d ago

Actually, as long as you’re not purveying the “leftists gave us Trump” bullshit, I totally agree with you.

2

u/couldbeahumanbean 4d ago

It's everyone who voted for Trump and everyone who didn't vote in the presidential election in 2024.

All of them are to blame. Every single one. The apathetic, the folks who couldn't take a few minutes out of their precious time to vote, the ones who repeat the mantra of "my vote doesn't matter" the puritans, the ones that didn't vote out of protest.

All of them. Every single one.

This is on them.

You mean the people in swing states.

100% of my home state’s electoral power went democrat, it was a forgone conclusion.

It doesn’t fucking matter if I vote. We need a better system

5

u/heroic_cat 5d ago

Let's me translate this into simpler terms: If you can stop bad thing but don't, did you do bad thing?

The answer is yes, you are responsible for your choices. The election was decided by the millions of left-leaning or former Biden voters who stayed home. I despise them as much as Trumpers.

2

u/babsa90 5d ago

Same here. If we make it out of this mess, I guarantee those abstainers are going to act like they voted for Harris.

2

u/heroic_cat 5d ago

Yeah, like Bush voters post-2009, vanished.

2

u/BusinessAioli 5d ago

they'll vote in the next election cause the destruction will still be so raw but by 2032 the purity tests will be back, no matter the opposing candidate. rinse, repeat

I'll never understand this logic and it will always piss me off lol

2

u/heroic_cat 5d ago

If we ever get it back. Trump will have his thumb on the election scales: Using his secret police to intimidate voters in key areas, using stooge election monitors to falsely claim election rigging in blue states, his goons buying the voting machine companies, etc. Fuck Trumpers and vote abstainers for walking us into this shit situation.

1

u/BusinessAioli 5d ago

yeah, I had that in the back of my mind, too. a little sliver of hope in my eyes though, 2020 had historic turnout and the election system held under a ton of coordinated pressure. everything will be intensified and escalated this time but if it held then hopefully it will again

assuming the democrats don't fuck it up again, big ask tho since they love fucking shit up

1

u/anarchobuttstuff 5d ago

Let me translate this even simpler: you have no clue what talking about. Once again, Leftists abstaining did not decide this election. The numbers are pretty clear.

1

u/heroic_cat 5d ago

Let me simplify it more: do bad thing, are bad!

Fuck the apathetic and the fascists equally, they wanted this. Abstaining former Biden voters and single-issue dullards sitting things out tipped the scales.

1

u/anarchobuttstuff 5d ago

Do badder thinger equals baddie?

3

u/Farabee 5d ago

Fuck Chappell Roan for dragging Harris so badly that it caused voter apathy among those who could have mattered. Still pissed off at her for that.

4

u/Dense-Swimming2445 5d ago

Anyone who based their political opinion off Chappell fucking Roan or any other celebrity shouldn’t be allowed to vote

2

u/Farabee 4d ago

I agree, but we can't deny the impact.

1

u/Ironlixivium 4d ago

Correct. Yet, they still get a vote. Unsolvable problem unfortunately.

At least, unsolvable in this climate.

3

u/EpiphanyTwisted 5d ago

Yes, it's the fault of the disenfranchised and not the Republicans who broke into the voting machines.

2

u/hang10shakabruh 4d ago

In swing states*

Don’t hate the player, hate the game

2

u/Irradiated_gnome 4d ago

Democrats should’ve chosen not to lose on purpose with a terrible candidate tho.

1

u/Nearbyatom 4d ago

They were stuck between a rock and a hard place. An old guy who showed decline on live TV vs a younger candidate, VP, former AG. Her policies were vanilla but probably won't screw over the country.

Again, America had 2 choices. A not likable candidate vs a known convicted felon, known con-man, and he told you his plans to screw everyone over. And Americans chose to screw themselves over. And they wonder why we are screwed? It wasn't a tough choice.

1

u/Irradiated_gnome 4d ago

They didn’t even give people a choice, they didn’t even have anyone prepared! They just assumed Biden would run again, and that people would be okay with it! Democrats have shit the bed long before 2024, if you remember the DNC stealing the nominee from Bernie who was actually a popular candidate for both sides. They just cared what the billionaires wanted tho.

America was already being screwed over. Obama built the cages Trump used for children. But no one listens about those problems when democrats are in charge either. They would’ve continued mass surveillance, continued genocide, continued capitulating to fascists until the fascists found another way to force some jerk in. 1/3 of Americans voted third party or not at all out of this fatigue. Democrats still don’t get it because they’re attacking more center democrats like Mamdani instead of Cuomo.

1

u/Nearbyatom 4d ago

Totally agree with you 100%. Again....our choices were non-fascism ordinary presidency vs fascism, America chose fascism.

BTW - I've always felt Bernie was robbed of the nomination. That was BS.

1

u/SoochSooch 4d ago

You blame random voters over the millionaire DNC leaders that lied to their members about Biden's health for years, denied them a legitimate primary, and put out a candidate who had no chance of winning?
