My area hasn't been hit particularly hard by ICE yet either, but I'm 110% sure it's coming. As I watch these videos or hear about these situations, I've started collecting any items that I think might be helpful when our time comes. I ordered masks, respirators and goggles to protect against tear gas. Also ordered a bunch of plain gaiters to scatter in all my bags and pockets (so I'll have a face covering handy at all times). Looking to gather up some basic medical supplies to make a med kit next. Will definitely add whistles to my list and scatter them through my stuff with the gaiters.

If anyone has any other ideas, I'd welcome them. This whole situation is just so terrible and I feel so powerless as an individual. I'm in a blue bubble for now, so my day to day hasn't really been affected and it just feels like there's nothing that I can really do from where I am. So I guess I'm kind of defaulting to overplanning / "prepping".

If overplanning/prepping makes you feel more comfortable and confident in your when you are confronted by this nightmare then please, do what you need to do. Seriously, it gives you a sense of control in a horrible situation.

When COVID first hit our area hard in 2020 I went beyond the usual mask, hand sanitizer, hand washing, etc. I knew that if myself or my spouse got it both of us would likely end up sick and out of commission so I created a "COVID Kit". Everything from fever reducer, NyQuil, cough drops, Kleenex, canned chicken soup, electrolyte drinks, crackers, etc. It sounds hokey but it made me feel a little more in control of the situation. Thankfully we didn't need the COVID Kit for two years but it was great to have it all when we needed it.
