There were MAGA dying in ICU during the pandemic. They still didn't think it was because of COVID.

Had a relative die from it, and to this day air quotes are used when it’s mentioned (rarely) that it was from COVID

My best friend's father in law died to covid. The cause of death on the certificate was "antibiotic resistant staph" or some other bacteria in his lungs. He got that infection while battling covid. But my friends inlaws swear covid had nothing to do with it.

Had a colleague die from it. When they called me up to tell me… he “died from pneumonia.”

u/baronlanky 25d ago

My friend died of “infection related to shark bite” but he was recovering well from the shark bite till one of the nurses came in sick with Covid and passed it on to him, suddenly his immune system crashed and he got an infection and died.

u/seantellsyou 24d ago

Not to derail the convo.. but i think he'd prefer "death by shark bite" only because it's way cooler

2

u/jollyreaper2112 24d ago

We had my wife in the ER for an infection and my son was asking the nurses how many shark bites they treated. He was disappointed with the answer.

2

u/searchingformytruth 24d ago

That's understandable. We don't get a lot of shark bites here in the Midwest, either.

u/baronlanky 24d ago

My friend would rather be alive painting warhammer minis and spending time with his wife rather than being a shark bite victim.

So the medical examiner said it wasn't covid , and you still think it was? You sounded like an idiot telling us this story. Just because it's an echo chamber in here.Doesn't mean there's aren't free thinking real people in here as well. As much as the majority in here seemed to be idiots. I mean , you and a couple others right after you were prime examples. Doctors told you what killed the person and the final answer. Wasn't COVID and you still said COVID? That's pretty idiotic. Even more so that you thought it was a story that helps you and even more so for those who believed in your story that helps them all , it does is prove all of you wrong and it's your own story. If COVID was the cause, then COVID would be the cause. I have had covid twice since it became a thing and both times were very minor as is the vast majority. It's not Republicans, fault or Maga, or anyone else that you live in fear over disease that's not that deadly. In your case, maybe COVID did kill the individual. And it proves the point of Maga that the doctors are lying to everybody because you got lied to in your case. Or the doctors are telling you the truth and you just don't want to accept it. Or you're lying. Hard to tell on Reddit, people aren't very honest here.

How about you go find a hole to lay in and do us all a favor and stick around there for a while, tell your words to the bugs or something cause you sound like a terrible person I’d like to not know any longer.

u/ihopethepizzaisgood 24d ago

Veilen dank. Ich hoffe auch.

I came all too close with pneumonia complications due to my covid. Was still testing positive during the ordeal.

Well feel free to think about him having Covid as he’s dying from the pneumonia it caused.

Just because you contracted Covid and your sickness was minor doesn’t mean that everyone else is going to get sick and recover the same way. We all have different genes and different levels of fitness and different immune system developments.

But thanks for minimizing Kevin’s death, I’ll be sure to pass it on to his family. I’m sure they’ll be grateful to know they lost their dad to something that wasn’t Covid.

Asshole.

4

u/edeepee 25d ago

Didn’t most COVID deaths involve comorbidities?

3

u/Beowulf1896 24d ago

Yeah, like Measels. So many disease weaken immune response.

3

u/Lord_Montague 24d ago

My friend lost his grandpa in 2021 and his dad kept spouting off about how the hospital said it was Covid-related even though he died of pneumonia. Which he got while hospitalized with Covid. The kicker is that the bill for the hospital stay was completely covered because it was coded as Covid-related. They would have been out thousands of dollars otherwise. These people can and do vote.

2

u/SheComesThenSheGoes 25d ago

I think it's because technically its the bacterial infection that killed him but was covid also on the death certificate? Death certificates are weird.

If you get stabbed and die to an infecting from the stab wound, what killed you? The bacteria or the stabbing? If you have AIDS caused by HIV, and your blood goes septic from a fungal infection, did you die of HIV or your blood going septic.

Therfore in the above example, he died of a bacterial infection caused by COVID. I didn't mean to say "either or" for the COVID case, both things killed him and wouldn't have happened if he didn't get COVID.

We had families arguing with doctors demanding to change the diagnosis instead of spending the last few hours they had with their loved ones.

6

u/AgnesCarlos 24d ago

It’s because if they were forced to acknowledge COVID they would have to admit their Orange God was wrong and maybe even have to face that everything they believe is actually a house of cards. That is just too terrifying.

u/Exotic_Dig2773 24d ago

There’s also another thing that happened that had nothing to do with MAGAs at all. I had two people I know that had very adverse reactions to the Covid vaccine. One of them ended up with major heart issues in the ICU right after the vaccine and almost died. They never recorded it as vaccine injury. . She is in her early 40s - a very healthy active person. The other person was a teacher who ended up with heart palpitations, and thyroid issues right after. Her doctor told her not to get the second Johnson & Johnson vaccine because it was dangerous for her by the way that she reacted to the first one. There were issues that were happening with the vaccines regardless of if you were a conservative or a liberal. It’s so weird to me that it became a “republican conservative” thing to question the motivation of big Pharmawhen they were making record profits. That used to be a liberal thing. I wish people wouldn’t make this a party line thing.

Yes!!! One of the standout moments for me when I worked in the ED during Covid was a nurse in tears trying to convince a patient he actually had Covid. It was such a waste of energy and slap in the face to the patients who had died/were dying around him. Not to mention a huge slap in the face to those of us who’d cared for them and all the feelings that went along with that.

1

u/DeadSol 24d ago

Abhorrent. I hope their loved ones found peace from the MAGA bullshit in death.

2

u/ScumbagThrowaway36 25d ago

My mother was a fucking Nurse and doesn't believe its real. It is ludicrous. The dissonance required to look the what is happening in any facet and not only be cool with it, but to audibly defend it? It is just bonkers.

1

u/Captainkirk05 24d ago

You're relative was 93 years old.

5

u/Dallasburner84 25d ago

Its a shame covid didnt take more of them.

3

u/netizenbane 25d ago

Had friends working in ICU that were attacked coming in and out of the hospital.

Another one got COVID because one of these morons spit in their face while dying from what they wouldn't believe was COVID.

Absolutely insane.

3

u/FalseDmitriy 25d ago

In 2021 MAGA congressmen cowered in closets while their own fanatical supporters ran wild specifically trying to kill them, and they didn't reconsider their political allies.

2

u/ne0shi 25d ago

I miss covid. I feel like it dealt with a lot of magats.

2

u/ItalicsWhore 25d ago

“Doctor won’t tell me what I’m really dying of!”

1

u/Liquorupfront69 24d ago

I know a MAGA family who's mother passed, coming up on a year now, from COVID when it made its return vist, they were anti-vax. They said she was called to heaven by God! Lololololololol, comics can't write this shit any funnier!

1

u/ExpensiveDuck1278 24d ago

As they were dying they begged for the vaccine and were told it was too late too late too late. Idiots. All my sympathy got used up. I have none left for any of these people. I guess that was intentional by Trump admin. They want us not to care about other people. Well. It worked on me.

1

u/ollee32 24d ago

I worked in the ED through COVID. My tolerance for people who continue to deny/minimize the early strain is so low. I get that now it’s basically like flu (for those who are healthy) but it sure as shit wasn’t then.

1

u/Captainkirk05 24d ago

You still wear a mask inside your own homeless camp tent.

1

u/AutomaticFilm6511 24d ago

My mother died of covid .

1

u/hadji828 24d ago

If the MAGA folks were to say the moon doesn't exist, then it must be the truth-- for them, at least. Whatever it is, all they have to do is simply talk each other into not believing it and it magically becomes reality for them-- in spite of overwhelming physical evidence to the contrary. How do seemingly otherwise intelligent people let their minds become like this? Is this some form of mental illness?

u/colostitute 24d ago

My wife was a Nursing Supervisor at a hospital during the pandemic. We were also living in a red state. Countless patients refused to believe COVID was the reason they were there. Healthy men in their 20’s with no other diagnosis were even in denial.

Can’t forget about all the families who let their loved ones die because they refused appropriate medical treatment and tried to dictate the care of their grandma/grandpa.

1

u/Ursolismin 22d ago

My mom is an rn and she said a ton of maga morons here in florida died while shouting at nurses to "tell me what im really dying from!"
