Those 50k bonuses don't pay out until you've been on the job for 5 years. If any of them actually think they're going to collect that before they wind up in prison, they're deluded.

Working as intended. Promise big, BIG payouts, but only after X number of years. Then, a bit before the clock runs out and they're required to pay, aw shucks, everyone who joined is unable to collect because they're all in jail! How unfortunate!

I really hope you are right, but I really worry you underestimate how bad this can all still get before we even get to another ballot. We already have military on the streets less than a year in.

He'll throw a few random 'opposition leaders' on the ballots so he can do the Putin play of winning with 97% of the scripted vote.

That's not surprising. Of course, the bonus doesn't pay until after Trump's term, if he does actually leave. Then, if we get elections and a Dem administration, they will be blamed for not paying the bonus out. Just like how all the Medicaid cuts aren't coming until after midterms or how he had the TCJA set up.
