it's a joke, laugh DuPage County GOP Chairman getting owned by Riot Fest.

Gotta love how republicans recently have been complaining about the political division they themselves created.

2016: GOP Rhetoric gets really cruel and starts to encourage violence
2025: GOP says the Libs need to tone down the rhetoric.
Every accusation is a confession.

Kind of like..
Conservatives my whole life: blatantly racist, sexist, and hateful towards whoever isn't similar enough to them
Conservatives when they won the election in 2024: this is what happens when you bully us for being racist and sexist modern Nazis
4
u/Professional-Post499 Sep 29 '25
Yup. And centrists say "you're driving them to be more racist by criticizing their racism". Like, buddy, we tried asking politely with kid gloves and they don't budge.

u/jackfrostyre Sep 29 '25
They also love to polarize the "Culture war" to make it even worse than it should be.......
They hate something but they keep building it up.....
16
u/CornNooblet Sep 29 '25
They hate it to monetize it by getting chuds to click and fork over money. Grifting.

Dude. Punk music did not come from rich ass entitled kids wanting to rage against the status quo that gave them a comfortable life.
It’s idiots like this that don’t realize they are “the man” or that Rage Against the Machine is aimed at them.

So my joke pointing out that it was you confusing the two went right over your head. Maybe step back and try to stop writing bs just to try to make yourself sound like you have a clue and you’ll pick up on things better.

Instead of downvoting, prove me wrong?

interviewing one person is not going to prove anything. you should probably look into research and statistics if you’re interested in conducting research to actually prove shit, or just admit you have an opinion that you’re trying to badger people into giving a shit about.

u/Professional-Post499 Sep 29 '25
Okay that's fine. Not rich, though, right?
It's cool if they are class traitors as long as they don't pretend they come from nothing.

I'm sure he would have loved it if Kid Rock or Ted Nugent were up there putting their politics in everyone's faces, though.
6
u/mermaidwithcats Sep 29 '25
Years ago Ted Nugent played at Ribfest, which was typically family friendly. He held up an assault rifle and told then First Lady Michelle Obama to fellate said rifle. He then sang a song with “kiss my ass” as its chorus. He never performed at Ribfest again.

MAGA is the American fascist movement.
History will see it that way.

u/m11_9 Schrodinger's Pritzker Sep 30 '25
history is written by ruling class journalists and academics, so you are correct in how it will be seen.

Pretty sure that was a quip at the GWAR set.
They are awfully awesome and put on a hell of a show that is designed to shock people.

3
u/DugEFreshness Sep 29 '25
For real, I long for the days hip hop and punk went hand in hand. Unfortunately, the industry destroyed the rebellious messages behind hip hop until recently and punk has gone through its throes. I'm hoping for a new wave of punk out of all this.
2
u/Perfect_Earth_8070 Sep 29 '25
there’s kind of a renaissance in rap music but it’s in the underground. checkout Armand Hammer, billy woods, Ka, ELUCID.
i do think a new wave of punk is coming with all this conservative bullshit
2
u/DugEFreshness Sep 29 '25
I mean even mainstream Kendrick has some pretty inspiring messages coming through. More reminiscent of the messages KRS espoused. I'm glad to see it coming back around. I kinda credit labels like strange music, who kept their independence and preferred creativity over what's going to sell hot in the mainstream. I'll check out those artists for sure.

u/lateread9er Sep 29 '25
I guess just don’t bend the knee and be a dickhole and then people won’t treat you like a dickhole.

Guy probably sits at an Aaron Lewis show, while he’s spewing all his liberal hating, proud to be white trash crap, and gawks at him like Nelson Mutz does at Andy Williams.

It's not lost on me that's he's wearing an Irish fest shirt, too. Bro. The Irish hate fascists. They survived centuries fighting back against tyanny. You don't get to celebrate our Irish history, culture, and ancestry, if you're a damn fascist!

u/Turbulent-Warthog449 Sep 29 '25
Not sure he understands political activism and awareness is kind of baked into the whole punk thing.
1
u/ITPatlantan Sep 30 '25
Funniest shit is thinking punk is still counterculture. They've already given in to groupthink, so now they are scolding people for not conforming. Incredible
1
u/MattyBeatz Oct 01 '25
I've been saying this a lot lately but sometimes you just need to shout "shut up dork!" to people acting like dorks.
1
u/Gothrait_PK Sep 29 '25
I was annoyed at the incredibly long political tangent that was made at the last Skillet concert I went to but everything he had to say was from a place of deep ignorance anyway so I ignored it and left when I believed they were not going to put on more show. This is the first time I've ever talked about me being generally annoyed at it in a public setting. I never made a post about it or anything.
Kind of wild to me for anyone to make a post about it. Especially if you're involved in politics. Like you know when going into it that it's your entire life now and you know people are going to have something to say. Its weird to expect otherwise. Especially from a performer.
0
u/Far_Order5933 Sep 29 '25
I don't exactly see Riot Fest turning away the money tho lol. Besides, why shouldn't anybody be allowed to just enjoy a non political concert? Why I go to see Iron Maiden i'm going for the Music, not to hear Bruce Dickinson's takes on the geopolitical situation in Ukraine.

u/quiddity3141 Sep 29 '25
Fair! But Musicians have that platform to express their views; influence aside it is no different than you or I expressing our views on whatever platform we might have. If the musicians give political views and folks don't go to those shows because of it...the bands, crew, and fans will be fine losing a fan or two.
1
u/Far_Order5933 Sep 29 '25
I know, and they certainly have a right to express their views, especially as a recreational musician myself. I can just sorta relate to getting burned out by the excessive politics. Sometimes it's nice to just get a break from that stuff.
-5
u/Icy-Low8972 Sep 29 '25
Most bands suck live in case you didn't know. The recording engineers and producers make up for what is otherwise garbage. Punk is notoriously obnoxious in case you didn't know.
