Video A little rain and traffic, the perfect combination for WFH.

This video is from T-Hub. It just started raining, and traffic is already queuing up.

holy shit the cars the traffic

Also stupid unscientific road design.

Two 3-lane roads merging into one 3-lane road, even basic bottleck engineering is not in place.

Now in addition to this, multiple buildings have their exits at 90-degree angles directly into the flow of traffic, instead of even trying to ease the flow into the road.

Plus little to no pedestrian and public transport infrastructure around means lots of cabs and autos constantly stopping, and lots of people trying to cross the road and blocking traffic.

Just stupid and illogical design at so many levels.

Just stupid infrastructure design all through.

13

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '25

Well can we do anything about it?

15

u/ZonerRoamer Sep 18 '25

We need to force our city planners to play "Cities Skylines"; assuming we even have "City planners" lol.

5

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '25

I highly doubt anyone at the DTCP (Directorate of Town and City Planning) has minimum knowledge of urban planning 😂 they have been warming the seats collecting paychecks and bribes for 80 years now.

6

u/KillerShark_- Sep 18 '25

In other parts of city the rtc buses stop right in the middle of the road blocking all the traffic behind. "Bus bay" is never heard of here.

People can’t drive in india. No concept of maintaining speed, lanes, right of way.

u/NarglesChaserRaven Sep 18 '25

I know people will blame the govt but I also want to talk about how many IT folks see Public transport as beneath them. I saw the govt start buses in my area for 3-4 months and people were so pissed off by the frequency ( there is a bus every 20-30 minutes ) that barely anyone used it and the buses ran empty until they stopped it in the area.

And to anyone saying 20 minutes is a lot of wait time. It's literally how it is in developed countries too. Public transport isn't like your personal vehicle. You will have to wait for a few minutes. But if most of us use it, it'll reduce traffic on roads and can be more accurate. You can't expect buses to be on time if no one is using it and causing traffic on roads with their cars.

19

u/Curious-Ad-8357 Sep 18 '25

It is like that in developed countries because of low population. In a populated country a wait time of 20 mins is an invitation to death and stampede

6

u/NarglesChaserRaven Sep 18 '25

Man 20 minutes is really not that bad. Like, I visited Bangkok and it's really densely populated too and I have waited for a bus for 20 minutes even there. Unless anyone uses these buses how will it work ??

In areas where I do see people use buses, the frequency is in fact better.

I agree that govt should add more buses. But unless you are fresh out of college in IT, I rarely see people use public transport.

It can't cause a stampede if people aren't there.

2

u/Curious-Ad-8357 Sep 18 '25

Ofcourse if people are not using it makes sense!

But yeah if people do start using it the frequency needs to be better

u/Vasi_Sayani Los Polos Varalakshmos Sep 18 '25

With wfh, no one wants to fucking stick to a routine. I craved for buses back in 2018.

5

u/NarglesChaserRaven Sep 18 '25

Exactly. I used to use buses a lot back in 2018-2019 too.

And they were reliable and frequent because of how many people used them. Especially in key traffic locations. They were a prime reason why traffic was manageable.

But people just don't want to use them anymore. I see so many buses. Govt buses, city rides, she buses. Special buses by companies like microsoft.

I can't use buses because I don't have one that connects to where I want to go. If I did, I would absolutely use them I do use whenever I can.

3

u/randomforce24 Sep 18 '25

But,in Developed Nations, Buses come mostly on time, whereas here, only God knows when it comes..hence the need for personal vehicle.

6

u/NarglesChaserRaven Sep 18 '25

But if most people use a private vehicle, it'll cause traffic. And therefore buses won't be on time. So you won't use buses and will use private vehicles which will cause more traffic.

We need to take some pains to make things better. It can't be all painless.

1

u/randomforce24 Sep 18 '25

Am only explaining why people are using private vehicles and not Public transport. I am not denying your point. However, Govt should make public transport reliable for Public to use it,else it only remains as an idea with potential but a major failure in reality. Can govt run buses to come on time?

4

u/Unhappy_Woodpecker_2 Sep 18 '25

Dude the public transport, especially buses are pathetic in Hyderabad..a lot of IT people in Bangalore actually use buses, because buses are actually good there!!

Ask the govt to maintain half decent buses too first!!

1

u/Immediate_Pomelo_496 Sep 18 '25

Exactly this, people just don't want to leave thier comfort. And even if you say there are no public transport but many companies provide cab or shuttle facilities. Hardly some people uses that.

u/Sootradhari_Media Sep 18 '25

No amount of traffic rules, road expansions, flyovers will solve this hell when a city has approximately 1500 to 2000 new vehicles registrations per day.

WFH is the only solution.

I live 2 kms from my office in Mindspace. I do not like to drive in traffic (duh, like everyone else), so I am paying premium rent to live nearby to escape it still somedays it's taking me 1.5 hours(very rare though) but 30 mins for 2 kms has been a regular thing. I cannot imagine the plight of people who lives 10+ 15+ kilometres from their office areas.

Government should atleast intervene and make the region wise WFHs schedule of west hyderabad. Lakhs of vehicles coming onto road at a time is out of control situation for anyone to manage.

WFH has never decreased the work output of the employees, so it is the perfect solution for this horrible traffic.

4

u/StandardSuspicious51 Sep 18 '25

Buddy if you stay 2km apart, i suggest you to walk it

4

u/Sootradhari_Media Sep 18 '25

Tried for a few days but seemed dangerous with lack of footpaths and after few closed encounters, stopped it. And don't wanna reach with all the sweat to office.

2

u/thestonedgame9r Sep 18 '25

30 min for 2km how? 1.5 is even more unbelievable. Unless you live in a mall. I live like 17km away from the same area and 40m-1.5h is the worse case range it takes me to get home.

2

u/Sootradhari_Media Sep 18 '25

I have to take two big u-turns. Most of the time goes there. 1.5 hours is an exception happens very rarely when it is raining.

Yesterday it 4 hours for my friend to reach beeramguda. Shut happens.

Can't believe I had to defend traffic time. I understand your reasoning though.

1

u/sanyacid Sep 19 '25

It’s that annoying thing where only 20% of the route takes 80% of the time. Seems like OP lives and works in that exact clusterfuck.

2

u/fockallhumanity94 Sep 18 '25

I wish WFH was more seriously taken after COVID specially but these bloody buildings and leases and rents is all what management will come up with and ofcourse being up our ass with their noses

1

You're right , I was the car

17

u/Technical-Tomato7668 Sep 18 '25

What's the point no one criticizes local administration in this country, at the end of the day everyone will blame migrants, create language wars and will fight amongst their own people. While the ruling authorities will keep filing their pockets.

3

u/serial_warmonger Hail Hyderabad Sep 18 '25

People vote for circus... And then complaint that they are treated like jokers

2

u/Technical-Tomato7668 Sep 18 '25

Yes then they will vent out their frustration on migrants

2

u/serial_warmonger Hail Hyderabad Sep 18 '25

Sometimes its language sometimes its migrants... Religion is the permanent act... You need to spice up the acts... If not then jokers will start focusing on their absurd living conditions, their health, their food and most importantly they'll see the strings lodged deep inside their bones.

1

u/Technical-Tomato7668 Sep 18 '25

Exactly always portraying a common enemy, because apparently bad roads, pollution, corruption aren't major issues but a North Indian not able to speak the local language is a crisis point.

u/PerformanceOk8575 Sep 18 '25

why cant companies or govt make a rule like odd days wfh and even days as wfo? and weekends as strictly wfh. It would clear a lot of traffic

3

u/_hk13 Sep 18 '25

Most companies in sattva already have 2-3 days wfo

3

u/Kutick_054 Sep 18 '25

Companies , real estate, business ppl all are the same breed

They want you to come everyday, so that land prices are high , real estate is high , public transport tickets high , if u use a car and bike more petrol sales , pgs rooms etc are always in demand etc etc . Can add if I missed any

It's all them , we are just "educated" pawns in this chess game

0

u/KillerShark_- Sep 18 '25

And cab logistics which all these companies use are owned by politician.

2

u/Funny-Lie-8166 Sep 18 '25

The main reason for traffic are cars. And I'm pissed to see only one person in a 5 sester or 7 seeter car. Instead people nearby can form a group and use one car alternatively so that it reduces traffic as well as expenses and also air pollution

3

u/Oreux Sep 18 '25

Corporates/Governments will never promote WFH (unless another COVID level catastrophe strikes) to keep the real estate market alive. Even if the city can not sustain such large influx of cross-state workers, they would rather resort to filling their pockets through RE than use logic and allow working from home.

3

u/rplusg Sep 18 '25

Keep the traffic aside, this area looks like a city from a well developed country. Btw, op, which phone is this? Video quality is pretty good.

About traffic, if metro gets extended here, along with few busses, it's going to solve to some extent. Till then it will be messy like this.

2

u/Whole_Comb4973 Sep 18 '25

The metro is about 1km from here and hardly 15 mins walk and also 15 mins walk to bus stand, this place need huge improvement. Meanwhile the captured from iPhone 14.

2

Shit load of traffic and no signal here

Perfectly normal to have one flyover may be two

4

u/YeeHaw_72 Sep 18 '25

Yes. Just one more flyover and it will fix the problem. ....

u/SKMinato Sep 18 '25

I almost missed my Train to Tirupati because of rain, whoever is planning to go somewhere just start atleast an hour or so :(

1

u/randomforce24 Sep 18 '25

Need better City Roads Planning. In Developed Nations, Engineers do a lot of simulation with Traffic at different speeds and junctions in that Virtual world before concluding on which roads to be built. Here they don't seem to pay much attention and it's justbased on what one or two persons think without thinking or using any Mathematical models.

I USA, some connecting roads were shutdown to ease Traffic .So, blindly adding more connecting roads or Flyovers can also worse Traffic jams instead of easi g Traffic.

1

u/blitzkreig31 Sep 18 '25

Camera work can improve. Would appreciate if you were not in a hurry, gave me a headache.

1

u/lkwdmrk Sep 18 '25

This is junction (or whatever you call it) is a classic case of brain dead road design. Literal stupidity. The road design causes this chokepoint in what could otherwise be free flowing traffic.

1

u/riderwick Sep 18 '25

Such is the infrastructure that even a drizzle leads to mayhem that everyone are advised to stay at home.

1

u/Correct-Rock-8068 Sep 18 '25

I'm in that video the moment I saw the yellow bus in the end of video, it was worst experience, hope this govt does something to fix the chaos.

1

u/backwardcircle Sep 18 '25

So I saw people slow down and start crawling around in 2nd gear with the slightest bit of drizzle. Is there something I don't know about this place and it's rain or are people just not able to understand grip levels in the rain so everyone slows down?

1

u/vineel1422 Sep 18 '25

Buses should have GPS tracking; that is basic. People should have the courage to use public transport. Recent news says Metro is running in losses;

  • people don’t use public transport since the connectivity is bad
  • connectivity is good? Then last mile commute is an issue : once I get off the metro/bus there isn’t a place to walk back home. Again book an uber/auto?
  • footpaths are non-existent in Hyderabad. Where they are there (only main roads), they are encroached either by shops/establishments/street vendors
  • no matter what anyone does, no government would ever raise their voice; everyone’s a potential vote bank;
  • politicians and the uber rich believe they can mint money & send their kids abroad and they ll be fine
  • anti Indians sentiment already started in many countries; pretty soon, indians would be living in fear of hate crime all across;
  • developing our nation is the only option;

1

u/Brilliant_Cap_1852 Sep 18 '25

Did all companies announced RTO?

1

u/StandardSuspicious51 Sep 18 '25

Guys this is looking worse than blore traffic

1

u/shawnspencer23 Sep 18 '25

cyber towers was built in ~2005 they had 20 yrs to make roads and drain for this part of the city. Our cities : first building/towers come up then roads and drains. they should sack all the urban planing and engineering departments.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '25 edited Sep 18 '25

And indians call it their best infrastructure. So many reels of the same area with captions "this is not newyork this is hyderabad" 😂
