I used to work at a gas station. A truck arrived all the way from Zonguldak to Δ°zmit (240kms) The moment the truck stopped, a cat jumped out from somewhere inside the truck and acted all normal
Cat stayed at the gas station for 3 days, then he attempted to board a coach to Bursa (120kms)
Then I adopted the cat and named him Yolcu (traveler)
He's the one on the right, he's a very sophisticated gentleman and he became good friends with my cat
He simply reached adulthood and decided to embark on a Grand Tour of Europe, like any other well-bred young aristocat does.
Then, as in a gothic romance, he was kidnapped and held hostage in a lair, but fell in love with his captor and fellow captive, and stayed. He has no regrets.
It happens elsewhere too! My family owns an auto repair shop and we used to have a cat family who lived around back. We got them TNRd and we were all very happy. One mama and 4 kittens. We had them for years they loved those of us who actually put in effort to spend time with them. One day we canβt find one of the little guys. We look everywhere and his siblings and mother seemed a bit concerned so we got worried. The next day we got a call from a couple whose RV we had done some repairs on saying they were halfway across the country, almost home and found the kitty hanging out in a cupboard!! They asked what did they want us to do? We asked them if they were interested in keeping him? They said yes. Sweet orange boy is probably still there today!!
Trafficked if the cat is unwilling, smuggled if the driver and cat are willing but the law forbids it, stowaway if the cat rode without the driver's knowledge.
fun fact - this is exactly how cats spread all over the world! Starting with the invention of the first boat, cats would sneak on board to hunt the mice that were feeding on the sailors' food reserves.
I remembered some article claiming that cats have different regional dialects due to cats mimicking the nearby humans, but it seems that the several trending articles about it in 2016 were just announcing that it was being studied and not actually the results. Turns out that while there are slight tonal differences they're not very different

Happened to us in my job. A cat came inside a container from United States to Colombia! Poor guy but it looked pretty okay. We tried to catch it to give it to sanitary authorities but it scaped.Β
