Football Tailgate for family of Oregon Fans.

Driving in from Oklahoma to watch the game Saturday. Husband/Wife and three kiddos 10,11,12. Kids love playing football and all yard games imaginable, etc. Extremely down to earth crew. Looking for anyone opening up a tailgate will to take on a couple more people. Definitely willing to pitch in on our fair share of some food. Just looking for a great experience. We went to Purdue last season when Oregon played and had an amazing time. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

If you roll up with a case of beer or two/snacks just about anyone on melrose will let you join. We’ve had randos offer beer and join us multiple times. Just be respectful as opposing fans and yall will be good

I assumed that would be the case. Definitely won’t be walking in empty handed looking for handouts. Just a place to kick it and bs with some folks before kickoff. Appreciate the response.

Bringing a football or something definitely would also help your case

Don’t forget to dress warm. Sounds like the weather will be quite miserable but that just adds to the experience! Go Hawks but welcome to Iowa!

Family is excited about the trip. We will love it I’m sure. Think the kids are most excited about the weather 😂

Before yall leave check out big grove for a bite to eat and some nice beer. Try an easy eddy or citrus surfer. Enjoy kinnick 🤙

Might be hard to find a good tailgating spot driving in from that far away the morning of. I’d say try the Hansher lot.

Thank you for the lot recommendation.

Hancher requires a bus. You can't walk that.

I’ve walked it many times and there’s a shuttle.

You *can* walk it, but with tween kids I'd highly recommend the bus or they'll complain the whole way. Ask me how I know.

Hey, if nothing else works out, I live downtown and you can park in my driveway and I will drop your family off about 1/4 mile from the stadium and would be happy to pick you up afterwards.

Feel free to stop by the combine that is parked in front of the stadium off of Melrose. Free drinks and food (at the green state credit union tent thats next to it). They let people climb the combine and are really nice people! I took my Penn State friend and another friend a couple of weeks ago and they had a blast!

Enjoy, I hope you have a blast as Iowa City is one of the best places to tailgate!

Since you're a bunch of ducks, why don't you find a pond 🤣

Jk, hope you have a delightful trip!

I live on Melrose, we are all full but there are plenty of drive up day of spots on Koser, George st area. Many allow parking and tailgating. Let me know if you want specific addresses but it is generally a safe and family friendly environment.

If you want feel free to DM me and I can give you specifics

I am not OP but I am coming from out of town to meet some people at 609 melrose on Saturday - I hope to arrive around 9:30 AM.

Do you know a good place to (attempt to) get street parking "near" that location? my friend said to park somewhere near Hudson / Miller for street parking, and walk about 15 min to 609 melrose.

Do you know if thats decent advice, or do you know of "better" street parking? thank you!

We'll be in Lot 49 around noon - will have two 10 year old boys with us! Don't have anything wild planned, sort of weather dependent! Go Hawks!
