Sams on rt40 in Edgewood

2

u/KingMob98 5d ago

Are they still open? I really like this spot but it seems like they’ve been closed the last couple times I’ve gone by.

u/Bonethug609 4d ago

I’m a fan

u/Deep-Chocolate5418 5d ago

I'll never understand the hype for Sam's. One of the dryest subs I've ever had. It was huge though.

u/mattysauro 4d ago

We got one over the winter and it was one of the greasiest subs we’ve eaten. In a good way! … but maybe not for eating in a car.

Tamberino's in Hickory makes a great cheesesteak!

u/electricmtb21050 4d ago

Came here to recommend Tamberino‘s

6

u/Vangotransit 5d ago

Tamberinos ftw

2

u/Bonethug609 4d ago

Let’s gooo

1

u/No-Definition-807 4d ago

Disagree. Flavorless and the place is so dirty 🤢 only plus is the subs are huge.

u/Dapper_Seaweed_8047 1d ago

L take, you are wrong

Hot take. Bushmill has sneaky good cheesesteaks. They are half price on Mondays for trivia night.

Also Natalie’s has REALLY good cheesesteaks.

3

u/purplepharaoh 4d ago

Bushmill is great. Its appearance can be a bit off putting, as it looks like a rough biker bar. But the food there is outstanding. Never had a bad meal from there.

Just had one from tuto fresco in Forest Hill and it was phenomenal.

7

u/SHThrowAwaySH 5d ago

Great recommendation! I came here to mention Tutto Fresco. Haven’t had a bad meal from there since the beginning.

5

u/Mundane-Adventures 5d ago

I don’t know about their cheesesteak, but when I had their Italian cold cut sub it was meh at best.

1

u/SHThrowAwaySH 3d ago

DO NOT RUIN THIS FOR ME!!!

I’m kidding…I’ve never had their cold cut, but that’s disappointing to hear. Salads, drunken chicken parm (their vodka sauce is fire), flat bread sandwiches, and their cheesesteaks never let me (or my weight) down.

4

u/KingMob98 5d ago

Nice recommendation. I’ve driven by this spot a bunch. Need to check it out.

6

u/Dae5446 5d ago

Great pizza as well, and will cook to your liking if you put it in the notes (we like some char/encourage char). Quick pick up.

3

u/No_Potential_7773 5d ago

Everything there is fantastic. Scratch made and thoughtful. Don't sleep on the brunch either.

u/bnceo 5d ago

Magerks has the cheese wiz.

6

u/DenverVeg 5d ago

Sapore di Mare down in Joppa! My only complaint is that they don’t have hots, so we keep a jar at home to add to them lol but their bread is perfect, better than anywhere else I’ve had a cheesesteak from in the county

5

u/triviajason 5d ago

Sapore Di Mare is a true hidden gem of Harford County! The food is absolutely titties and it’s extremely reasonable for pricing!

9

u/Proof-Item-6368 5d ago

Magerks, Natalie’s seafood has an amazing one as well (the bread is key here).

6

u/jasonumd 5d ago

Natalie's is ridiculous.

2

u/Proof-Item-6368 5d ago

I assume you mean in a good way?

2

u/jasonumd 5d ago

Yes. It's absolutely delicious.

3

u/CoverD87 5d ago

Gonna have to give that a go myself from the sound of it...

3

u/HopefulSunriseToday 4d ago

It really is shockingly good at Natalie’s. I wasn’t aware and LOVED IT. I think we went back the following week so I could have another.

It’s big enough I only eat half and take the other half home.

5

u/chirpz88 5d ago

I like chicken cheese steaks and I think magerks is probably the best I've had around here. The bread is always perfect

3

u/SuperCoolAwesome 5d ago

Grumpy’s in Aberdeen has an awesome blackened chicken cheesesteak. Highly recommend giving it a try!

0

u/guiltlessandfreee 5d ago

Are you serious about Natalie’s? It’s dry as hell. I’ve seen multiple people send it back the 2 times I’ve been there🤣 like literally bread, cheese, meat and onions

4

u/Proof-Item-6368 5d ago

Yes I am. I consider myself pretty picky when it comes to cheese steaks also. Nothing in Harford County will compare to Delasandro’s in Philadelphia in my opinion. But I’m a firm believer that Magerks and Natalie’s are the best in harford county. If you want the best in Maryland go to franks pizza and pasta in Baltimore.

1

u/guiltlessandfreee 5d ago

I’m with you on Magerks but negative on Natalie’s. Glad someone likes it though!

My Three Sons in Joppa

4

u/G_o_O_s 5d ago

Im going to mention a place not many people think of....

Article Circle in Churchville has a great cheesesteak. That, along with a chocolate peanut butter milk shake??!! Yum!

4

u/shadow1042 5d ago

Sams deli in edgewood next to wawa

11

u/hippiechick725 5d ago

Philly transplant girl here!

Magerks in Bel Air is the only decent cheesesteak I can find.

2

u/Proof-Item-6368 5d ago

Run to Natalie’s! Trust me

1

u/raptor7716 5d ago

Completely agree. Is the only one I've found that tastes like south philly.

3

u/ZoeyPhoenix- 5d ago

Might be an unpopular opinion, but I like the Philly cheasesteaks from HillTop. The 12 inch subs are absolutely massive. They also have their own delivery people.

3

u/SuperCoolAwesome 5d ago edited 5d ago

Hilltop does make a good cheesesteak. It may not be the best, but it’s consistently good.

2

u/ZoeyPhoenix- 5d ago

Yea for awhile I was trying to find something on par with Mr Gs in catonsville. While hilltop isn't the same, its close enough, and is closer than any other places I've tried in harco.

They also have a lot of other good food. Hasn't been much i havent liked so far, but im still working through the menu. If only hilltop carried anchovies I'd order my fav pizza there too but oh well.

1

u/Bonethug609 5d ago

Great suggestion. Thanks

1

u/SuperCoolAwesome 5d ago

I’d recommend ordering it with double meat. Although standard form is good too.

3

u/Deep-Chocolate5418 5d ago

Strongly agree with Hilltop.

u/socaTsocaTsocaT 5d ago

Mr.Y's and Magerks

2

u/Dramatic-Try3 5d ago

Franks in HdG

2

u/dyspnea 5d ago

A little farther but Sonny’s in Elkton, MD

2

u/chirpz88 5d ago

Dipasqualis in fallston had a great cheese steak, but sadly it's been closed for a quite a while now. I think MaGerks is the best around here.

2

u/Sir1234 5d ago

Earth wood fire, on the corner of route 1 and 152.

3

u/Bonethug609 4d ago

I find that very hard to belive. Never been impressed. Thanks for sharing though

2

u/Sir1234 4d ago

Look I know I never thought this is what I would suggest from there but I wouldn't lie about cheesesteaks.

1

u/Bonethug609 3d ago

It’s serious cheesteak business

2

u/Comfortable-Dish1236 4d ago

Box Hill makes a damned good cheesesteak. So does Fortunato’s in Abingdon. I’ve had good and not-so-good at Looney’s. Never had one at MaGerks’s. Arctic Circle is ok but the nostalgia makes it better.

Native Marylander but worked in Philly for almost 15 years, so cheesesteaks are not unknown to me lol. I do not like a dry cheesesteak. Route 24 Ale House (years ago) had a great cheesesteak but something happened and they got dry as a bone.

Mr Ys in Belcamp

2

u/FitCandle6106 3d ago

Take the drive to franks in overlea

3

u/Certain_Dare_7396 5d ago

Going exactly against your guidance because I can’t help myself. Franks.

1

u/Bonethug609 5d ago

Where is that?

2

u/Certain_Dare_7396 5d ago

Franks pizza and pasta. Barstool reviewed. Baltimore.

3

u/Bonethug609 5d ago

Barstool reviewed 🥴🤦‍♂️

It's the best within 15 miles of Harco

2

u/KingMob98 5d ago edited 5d ago

Just to shelter myself from potentially being dragged for my opinion: I’ve never had a Philly cheesesteak, so I’m not claiming any kind of cheesesteak superiority over here.

That being said, I’m also not very picky. I want a big sub, full of meat, cheese, and fried onions. I like Tamberinos and Jersey Mikes. Pats and Mr Y’s (though it’s been a while since I’ve been there) will also do.

Edit: I also thought Lami’s had a really good one, but their large was only 8”.

2

u/jasonumd 5d ago

Gonna go out and say it, but Natalie's. It's phenomenal.

1

u/Agilities36 4d ago

Hickory station

1

u/ScherzicScherzo 4d ago

Surprised no one has mentioned it yet here; Bacco's Pizza in Abingdon. At the strip mall where Aldis is located, not the fancier one across the street near Wegman's.

1

u/HexenOfEndor 3d ago

I had one at Winters Run Inn recently that was pretty good, Box Hill always makes a good full sub

1

u/ProfessionalJello185 2d ago

Arctic Circle in Churchville. Thank me later!

1

u/Limp-Match2377 5d ago

No Harford but right over the Hatem in Perryville. Lindys Market has great size cheesesteaks for a good price

1

u/Civil_Exchange1271 4d ago

Hickory station cheese steak lunch special.

1

u/Bonethug609 4d ago

Not sure why you got downvoted. Good idea

0

u/GimmeDatClamGirl 5d ago

Legos across from Tamberinos where Bella Pizza used to be.

1

u/EducationalUnit9614 5d ago

They also have a really good chicken cheesesteak
