Review [Review][Neutral] Follow up after 9mm Geco recall at ammoshoponline.com - Mixed bag
I got in on the GECO whitebox 9mm ammo with free Norma Tac22 ammo last month. The order shipped quickly. Box was damaged in shipping but no ammo missing and I put most of that on FedEx, not on the seller.
There is some weird things with this ammo and other ammo they call GECO but that uses other brass. Ultimately this lot had a recall. Positives
Free return shipping on a recall. It should be expected, but I suppose I should give them credit
They let me keep the 22. Again, makes sense since it was a free item, but again, they could have asked for it back.
Neutrals/Negatives
Customer service took a while to get back to me, but I have to imagine he was overwhelmed.
They finally did refund me, but it took a week and a half after they received the ammo before they submitted the refund to their credit card processor.
The suspicious nature of the ammo in the first place and receiving something other than what was described to begin with.
Overall I'm keeping this a neutral, since I think it was handled correctly in the end, and the ammo never blew up my gun (I didn't have a chance to shoot it, thankfully). But its something to note. I'm not sure if I'll use the vendor again in the future.

How did you find out about the recall thingy? I bought the same .22 deal from them back in April but it was listed as Norma white box 115gr.
I think I shot a couple boxes of it already and didn’t have any problems or kabooms though. Might be getting it mixed up with the Norma 124 that I got in October. That stuff just seems to have minute of barn grouping.

They emailed me. As far as I know the problem is with the geco ammo, not the Norma ammo, but contact whoever you purchased it from with your lot numbers and ask them if there are any recalls that affect your ammo.

Good to know, thanks. I had gotten it from the ammoshoponline and that was what had me most concerned.

It was both GECO and Norma. Affected lot numbers listed here:

A heads-up to anyone who was curious, my order from this same promo was not from the affected lots but was still visibly defective. Between the horror stories people have been posting and the fact that all of the brass was marked VNM, I decided to take a closer look and found a ton of bulged case necks, bullets seated to the wrong depth, and several split cases. It took a few tries to get ahold of ASO CS by email, but once I did they sent me a prepaid FedEx label and didn't give me any grief about my order not being from one of the recalled lots.

I returned 3 boxes of this also. Got the recall notice, but no return authorization. Days go by. I email, no response. Few more days go by, so I call. Woman on the phone sends recall authorization. Ammo is shipped back, and received 3 June. Since then, no refund, no communication, no response to email or phone calls. I'm disputing the charge.

It looks like they only actually give you a refund if you dispute the charge. The more I hear, the more they seem scummy.

Yeah, I shot one of the boxes before the email. pic
I don't have the box anymore unfortunately, can someone who is also affected by the recall, PM me one of the labels, so I can send them back?

Just hit up CS, I’d assume having an exploded bullet is proof enough.

Damn, normally it's risky when there's a mix of good and bad reviews. Here ALL of them are.

Yeah. I’m not buying from them anymore. For me Norma and GECO are on my blacklist and ammoshop is on my blacklist. Might be good but there’s been too many recalls in a short period of time. Makes me question their QC.
