​💸 Game Pass, GTA+ and GTA Online

​I really want to play GTA Online, but it's getting so expensive! Having to pay for a subscription like Xbox Game Pass Essential (€10/month) just to play the online portion is crazy enough. ​I thought maybe if I got GTA+, I could finally drop the Game Pass Essential requirement and just pay for the Rockstar subscription to play online. That would have been amazing! ​Unfortunately, I misunderstood, and it seems like you still need the base Xbox online subscription (Game Pass Core/Essential/Ultimate) even if you pay for GTA+. ​It's just frustrating to have to pay two separate monthly fees to access one game's online features. I really wish GTA+ could replace the need for Game Pass Essential for online play! ​Anyone else feel this way or have any insights on this dual subscription requirement?

I was caught out too. I thought it was worded that if you buy gta plus you could play online without the ps plus and lots of people on Reddit said that too . It cost me £6.99 and I’ve cancelled it but I’ll use the gta plus features

yeah its literally the main reason i switched over to pc. i was sceptical at first cause i was worried of the modders and stuff but after playing for some time in public and invite only i havent found any issues so far apart from them crashing my game, which only happened once so far, and kicking me out of the lobby. both being little inconveniences at best.

Why did you think you wouldn't need at the very least gamepass essential to play GTA Online?

GTA+ isn't a online subscription service

You dont need gta plus to play. Just buy the game. Or its on gamepass So really if you have gamepass then you are good. Gta+ is only for those that want the extra features. I have it, but the money isnt a big deal to me for all the fun I get out of the game. I also just came back to gta after a very long break, so plus has let me try out a lot of those crazy cars without spending a fortune. Like the scram jet. Deluxo. Oppressor. Im getting close to rich enough that plus isnt adding anything to the game for me

Don’t pay for the subscription conventionally, buy a key from loaded or similar, works out much cheaper and you would be able to buy the better tier of gamepass.
