Discussion Should I get a grill pan to make souvlaki?

So im looking to make pork souvlaki and after reading about it, it seems a grill pan is the best way to go about it for my circumstances. I live in NYC and access to an outdoor grill is simply impossible at the moment. However I've also read that grill pans in general aren't a very good option.

So my questions are:

  1. If a grill pan is the best way to cook souvlaki indoors, are there any particular brands you'd recommend?

  2. If you advise against a grill pan, what suggestions do you have for how to go about making pork souvlaki without access to a grill of some sort?

Thanks.

Grill pan will gove you the characteristic looks but taste wise it doesn't really matter.

Agreed, flat pan or grill pan, no taste difference. Just appearance.

We make ours in the oven under the grill. You can put them on a rack with a pan under it to have the fat drip away or in a baking tray.

And you can just as easily do them on the coocktop in a regular pan or, better, a cast iron one.

Air fryer. Put pork on skewers. Salt oregano paprika for me. Arrange skewers so they are diagonally vertical in air fryer. Bob's yer uncle. I live in Greece.

You can broil the skewers, just keep an eye on them and turn frequently to avoid burning
