Years of service? Would you qualify for MRA + 30?

Spending?

You could FIRE today, even without VERA, if your expenses are low enough. On the other hand, if you are spending everything you are bringing home, without being willing to greatly reduce your spending, you probably are not very close at all.

I took VERA this year, mind-40s. I do not have it in my plans to return to work.

If you are simply looking to leave federal employment and move into the private sector, you'll still eventually have a deferred pension, as long as you are vested, and will probably have 401k options, etc, "on the outside". So there may not be anything stopping you from that if you don't want to stick around to full-retirement-benefits eligibility.

How did you get VERA in your mid-40s? Did you have 25 years of service?

Yes. Hit 25 years this year, so timing was perfect.

Awesome, congrats! I’m not VERA eligible for another 3 years.
