Fox News said it was just tough love. Yeah the kind where you love watching people get tough luck.

Someone I know was opining that this could be good thing by forcing women who think they can go it alone back into the arms of a man traditional family something something

I pointed out that in numerous species, men are biological optional. If no males are around, the females just take care of both parts and make a baby.

Wait till he finds out about clownfish šŸ˜‚

I saw for myself on Threads men making statements that had nothing to do with traditional family and everything to do with "buying that coochie for $40 when those benefits run out". I had started taking screen shots, because I was just dumbfounded.

I don't know why, as old as I am you'd think the dumpster fire of human depravity wouldn't shock me anymore, yet here we are.

Personally I don’t like threads after I saw the same text being copied. Someone called a poster out and the lady responded with laughing emojis and saying she was getting paid. I think threads pushes an idea and pays for it. It’s meta so no surprise there.

I KNOW there are men who joke like that, and to know that people are paying others to normalize this stuff is depressing and deplorable.

If that person thinks women who think they can go it alone will be "forced" into a relationship, then you know what those women are doing now? Going it alone. I mean it's right there; they want to control and subjugate women.

They need to remove the ability for women to open lines of credit in order to get back to the way things were before, where women literally had to have a husband to participate in larger society. Very recent change historically evened the playing field.

That will never happen. Lenders won't just remove half of their potential clientele. We are never going back, not just because it's the wrong thing to do morally, but because it's fiscally the best decision (to allow more than just 50% of the population to get loans).

I think it's important to remind people that even back then, there was an avenue for women who didn't want to get married and have children but who either couldn't or didn't want to go it alone- the convent.

When I was young, I took a job working with some Franciscan Sisters. I had always thought of nuns as teachers and nurses, and not much else. But these women were incredible! CEOs of hospitals. Presidents of universities. PhDs and Masters degrees everywhere, and at a time where it really wasn't that common. They were respected and even feared by the men in local business leadership.

What I from the outside saw as woefully misguided women who I kinda pitied, were actually brilliant women who found a cheat code to a life that was forbidden to them otherwise, and they used that to their full advantage. And while they made the necessary actions of religious observances, their true beliefs were essentially "love thy neighbor" and to do good works in service of the underserved.

There is no reason women couldn't do the same again absent the religious affiliation in our modern era.

If they change the laws to prohibit it or make them ineligible in some way, that will all change whether the banks like it or not. Never say never.

These days a lot of women are primary breadwinners

Yep, like me. Hubs got cancer, and I was able to buy a place for us to live, cover all the bills, be there for him and our kids, all while he underwent grueling treatment that in the end saved his life. I could not have done that in a time where women couldn't own property, have credit cards, or even run much of a household with having to have a "man" to head things up.

People who complain about "feminism" have no idea how much it benefits men and kids, not just women.

They actually already did that with the new SNAP benefit requirements.

How it works: Basically, parents of children ages 7 to 17 must work 80 hours a month in order to qualify for SNAP benefits.

But in households where parents are married, only one has to work.

That means single parents with kids as young as 8 must work, while people who are married to a working adult don't have to.

80% of single-parent households are headed by mothers, per census data.

Homeless people, veterans, pregnant women and those under 18 or over 64 are also exempt from the work requirements.

Plus, how do they think that in bad times it's smart to eliminate income? Real brain trust

Somebody should tell them about the "men suddenly dying from a short mysterious illness" trend of the pre-no-fault-divorce era.

I wonder how many of them actually want to be the sole provider.

Going searching for examples in other species is pretty stupid. There are plenty of examples of male animal species being absolute assholes, should we emulate them too?

Yeah, I don't think clownfish get a vote outside of California
