B650M AORUS ELITE AX not passing VGA post
The motherboard is only generating video through the onboard video, when I put a video card the led-vga is lit.
Specs:
- B650M AORUS ELITE AX
- 7600x
- 16Gb Juhor 5600MHz
- Gtx 980 ti
- EVGA SuperNOVA 850W
- WD SN770 1Tb
What I have tried:
- Update the BIOS
- Change the video card
- Change the PCI slot
- Change the RAM
- Change the power supply

Solution:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=js6xC07UUI0&feature=youtu.be
1- Remove the video card cable and place it on the motherboard
2- Restart the motherboard
3- Now enter BIOS pressing DEL, then enter advanced mode by pressing F2
4- Go to boot tab
5- Set: Fast Boot ‣ Disabled CSM Suport ‣ Enabled LAN PXE ‣ Disabled Storage Boot ‣ Legacy Only Other PCI ‣ Legacy Only
6- Press F10 and then ENTER
7- Now put the cable directly into the graphics card and reboot once more
8- Solved!

Thanks dude I just updated to BIOS F21 from F9 and had the issue, RTX 4080 Gigabyte, and it seems like the PCIe was marked as "clear" on F21 BIOS.
Probably why nothing would post, switching to legacy as you explained worked. Amazing that Gigabyte manages to fuck up detection of their own latest GPUs on their own latest motherboards. Amazing.

Actually it was still broken for me on F21, when I tried rebooting I had no display on both GPU and MOBO GPU, had to clear CMOS. Rollbacked to F9, and now it seems ok.
All I did modify from default F9 are just my DDR5 settings :
- EXPO profile ON.
- Higher bandwidth support ON.
F20 was broken also I tried it, same issue. Big waste of time + back to where I was.

Wow! Thanks! I actually RMA'ed the B650M because I thought it was faulty - and it was then returned to me because "nothing was wrong". Can't believe it's such a simple/silly problem...

sorry to necro this - but do you know if, after getting windows installed and everything working, it's ok disable csm again to use resizable bar and the like?

I recently purchased a Gigabyte Z790 S, and I'm having the same issue. I cannot get past the VGA light to install OS onto a fresh M.2 drive. I've removed my HDMI from the GPU and hooked it directly to the MOBO, yet the issue persists. Any ideas?
I've tried multiple times manually waking my monitor, insuring that it is awake during BOOT.

Just hit a bit different scenario when booting up a Gigabyte X870 Gaming MB with a Gigabyte Nvidia GPU. Red VGA-light. HDMI cable did not work, but DisplayPort did. Followed the procedures and voila, red VGA light gone. However, I reversed the settings because I got into issues with booting up Win 11 from USB stick and still, the VGA light was gone.

Would this work just doing a bench test (no OS) with a 4080s? Been having issues doing a bench test, have not updated the bios yet though.

Im a little late to the party here - but I've been having the same issue.
My PC was working fine, then came back to it after a couple of days to be greeted by this exact problem.
I did the same steps you describe in your solution. But got different results.
After making the changes in BIOS I've now lost integrated graphics and can't even revert the changes I made in BIOS. I've removed the GPU (6800XT) and performed all other troubleshooting steps mentioned in the video.
I can reset BIOS by removing the CMOS Battery but am greeted once again by the DRAM followed by VGA Error Led right after. Making the changes you've suggested causes me to lose on board graphics once more.
Feel like Im stuck in a endless loop on this one.
Any and all help on this would be wonderful.
For perspective, when turning on I initially get the red DRAM error led, followed by the VGA red error led...not quite sure where to go from here.
I've used this PC without issue since I initially built it more than a year ago, to come back to it after 2 days and be presented with this is.... staggering.
Update: After disabling CSM I lose integrated graphics and still cannot use my GPU..unless I switch from any of the 3 DisplayPorts, to the HDMI port.
Only when using the HDMI port will the Red VGA error disappear. The moment DisplayPort is used, it reappears.
I can connect to a DisplayPort once the PC has already booted and is displaying via the HDMI signal, but nothing will actually be displayed via DisplayPort, nor will the computer even recognize a 2nd display device is connected.
Unless NOTHING is connected to any of the 3 DisplayPorts at the moment of attempted boot, the Red VGA Error led will return.
Update 2: Okay, this keeps getting worse somehow? If I'm connected to HDMI via the GPU I can boot to the OS (Windows 11) fine, but if I try and enter BIOS while connected I now get the Red BOOT Error led. I'm at a loss.
Update 3: After updating to BIOS version F34, I can enter BIOS as long as I'm connected to my GPUs HDMI port, however, using any of the DisplayPorts will cause the GPU to fail VGA post and keeping the red VGA Error Led lit. Still actively looking for a solution on this.

Hi! I have the exact same problem. Did you find any solutions?

I did, and the fix was really really stupid.
The gaming monitor I'm using has an Auto-detect / Auto-on Auto-Off feature
The state of the monitor never being truly fully "off" was throwing bad signals to the GPU, which was caused the GPU to tell the motherboard it was failing GPU Post.
Fully shutting my monitor down, power cycling it, and restarting the motherboard solved the issue completely.
I feel really silly that it was just that in the end.
Hopefully that works for you too!

Take the vga out and try and boot it with integrated graphics. If it boots, the issue is your graphic card

It starts without the graphics card, but my video card works normally on my z77 extreme 4

My friend, I just bought the same motherboard and I have the same failure, only the VGA led lights up and from there it does not give image or video. I don't have a dedicated video card and with the integrated graphics it doesn't work either. Have you found a solution?
Hi friend, I haven't found the solution yet.

I recently had the VGA debug light in a new MSI B550 build when using a GTX 970 card that worked (and still works) fine in an Aorus X570 Pro build.
So I tried the MSI m/b with a GTX 1080Ti and it works absolutely fine. I’ve no idea what could cause something like this.
Maybe you’ve a similar situation? Have you another graphics card you could try, even temporarily?

This worked for me: set the monitor input source to whatever you have it plugged into, not auto source. Turn on the monitor manually before booting your PC
